Requirements
  • An Associate of Applied Science in Physical Therapist Assistant.
  • An active, unencumbered physical therapist or physical therapist assistant license.
  • A minimum of five years of full-time post-licensure experience, including at least three years of full-time clinical experience.
  • Current, evidence-based knowledge of physical therapy practice and the ability to integrate clinical expertise into classroom and lab instruction.
  • Competency in entry-level physical therapist assistant skills, including therapeutic exercise, modalities, and patient handling.
  • Effective written and verbal communication with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Proficiency with instructional technology, learning management systems, and standard office software.
  • Professionalism, reliability, organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to support student learning and address classroom or clinical-related issues.
  • The ability to build and maintain positive, professional relationships with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Availability to work physically in Texas; fully work-from-home positions are not available.
  • Proof of employment authorization and identity within three days of hire.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment background check.
Responsibilities
  • Deliver classroom and lab instruction as assigned, ensuring effective use of instructional time and alignment with course objectives.
  • Evaluate student performance using established grading methods and provide timely, constructive feedback on academic progress.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student performance in accordance with institutional policies.
  • Provide students with clear course expectations, including syllabi, objectives, and required materials.
  • Foster an engaging, supportive learning environment that recognizes diverse learning needs and promotes student success.
  • Encourage professionalism, accountability, and motivation among students.
  • Refer students to appropriate campus resources for academic and support services as needed.
  • Use the college’s learning management system and instructional technology effectively, including basic troubleshooting.
  • Maintain lab equipment and supplies, ensuring proper use and reporting needs to the Program Director.
  • Collaborate with the Program Director and faculty to support student retention, remediation, and program effectiveness.
  • Adhere to institutional policies, program requirements, and accreditation standards, including Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education guidelines.
  • Participate in required meetings and professional development activities as appropriate.
  • Participate in accreditation reporting, preparation, and recordkeeping.
  • Support program goals and Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education accreditation standards.
  • Provide resources for safe operation of units and create and support workplace safety.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
