Requirements
  • Certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT) as a sonographer or the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) certification or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) certification
  • Graduate from Specialty Training Program (Required)
  • Minimum of 1 year related work experience (Preferred)
  • Basic Life Support Certification
  • Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) - Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
  • Sonography (S) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
Responsibilities
  • Ensures correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified and prepared for exam, and that clinical history is corroborated and appropriately documented while respecting confidentiality
  • Utilizes appropriate imaging protocol and optimizes technical factors while maximizing patient safety, optimizing patient care, and applying principles of ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable)
  • Preparing and/or administering, as applicable, medications through new or existing vascular access site as prescribed by a licensed practitioner
  • Evaluates images for proper positioning and acceptable technical quality and verifies archival storage and/or transfer of data, post processing of data if applicable
  • Educating and monitoring students and other health care providers
  • Collaborates with a licensed practitioner in the performance of sonographic interventional procedures
  • Ensuring equipment parameters for diagnostic and interventional procedures are of optimal technical and administrative quality as requested by a licensed practitioner
  • Performing diagnostic, interventional, sonographic procedures as prescribed by a licensed practitioner or during appropriate educational activities
  • Independently reviews symptoms and medical history to determine the correct exam for the patient
  • Evaluate orders and requests for procedures to assure correct scheduling of patient exams
  • Performs noninvasive vascular laboratory tests (if applicable)
  • Independently provides preliminary interpretation of the test results (if applicable), including level of disease, incidental findings, results, outliers, contradictory and unexpected test results, and need for additional testing, urgency of care and reporting to provider
Desired Qualifications
  • Minimum of 1 year related work experience (Preferred)
  • ARDMS (AE) certification for Pediatric Echocardiography (Preferred)
