The mission of the Black Leadership Council (BLC) is to meaningfully engage and strengthen the Black communities presence and participation within the Democratic Party through fundraising, strategic planning, and coalition building in order to help elect Democrats and support critical Democratic Party programs. The Black Leadership Council plays an integral part of the Democratic National Committee and is a crucial vehicle for outreach and fundraising for the Democratic Party.
The Black Leadership Council Finance Director is responsible for creating and implementing a Black community focused finance plan and leads the execution of principal and surrogate involvement and fundraising in the Black community. The Black Leadership Council Finance Director is also responsible for identifying, cultivating, and maintaining relationships with top donors as well as planning and executing fundraising events. Applicants must be detail-oriented, possess strong communication and organizational skills, and have political campaign experience.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, schedule, and execute fundraising travel including donor meetings and finance events;
- Develop a comprehensive cycle finance plan that aims to exceed goals;
- Provide stewardship to existing major donor portfolio;
- Regularly performs research to identify prospective supporters;
- Manages relationships with the Black Leadership Council leadership; and,
- Liaises with the constituency finance team to support a constituency and surrogate fundraising plan in the region.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience;
- 4-5 years of related work experience;
- Detail-oriented and possess strong organizational skills;
- Proven track record soliciting contributions at the major donor level;
- Strong and engaging interpersonal skills;
- Possess strong communication skills across multiple platforms;
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment;
- Proficient in Google Suite and NGP8; and,
- Political campaign experience is strongly preferred.
The starting salary for this position is $70,000, on an annualized basis, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This position is represented by SEIU Local-500 and has an end date of November 15, 2024.
This position requires up to 30% travel both in the Washington, D.C. area and across the country to attend and support meetings and events.
