Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in communications, media, journalism, or related area of study.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience performing similar roles and responsibilities, with particular focus on communications and archives.
  • Web design and content production, copywriting and editing, social media management and content production, grant writing, video and multimedia production, project-based research, cataloguing and digitizing materials, creating presentations, and media relations.
  • A solid understanding of project management principles.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and photo and video-editing software.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Outstanding organizational and planning abilities.
  • Familiarity with large, complex major capital projects from inception through completion, with particular focus on budget, schedule, quality, and compliance.
  • Creative problem-solving skills to gather relevant information needed to solve amorphous problems in the field.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, preferably including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing disciplines.
  • Knowledge of research and data-collection principles and practices.
  • Familiarity with design and construction terms and acronyms.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relations with students, faculty, staff, vendors, contractors, and the public.
  • Project management skills from planning through implementation.
  • Ability to work on several projects or issues simultaneously.
Responsibilities
  • Provide technical and administrative support to the Executive Director for Campus Planning, Architecture and Development in communications and archives for the real estate development portfolio.
  • Plan, oversee, produce, and implement communications-related activities, including website, press, media relations, social media, publications, awards, grant writing, presentations, and multimedia/video for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Plan, oversee, produce, and implement archives-related activities, including documenting projects; cataloguing, digitizing, and contextualizing materials; creating narratives and storytelling elements; maintaining a weekly ledger; and conducting historic and contextual research projects.
  • Ensure internal and external stakeholder units have appropriate access to REDCAM messaging and create engaging content for various platforms and user groups.
  • Develop effective communication strategies and related tactics.
  • Manage and improve internal communications, including memos and newsletters.
  • Manage and improve internal and external communication flows.
  • Develop and implement communications strategies covering media outreach, marketing tools, collateral, content creation, social media management, and other communications approaches.
  • Arrange and coordinate press conferences, town halls, and planned stakeholder events.
  • Draft content for mass media and websites.
  • Liaise with media and handle requests for interviews and statements.
  • Manage external communications vendors and collaborate with university communications and marketing professionals to implement communications plans and produce copy for advertisements and articles.
  • Research and write press releases and content for websites, infographics, blogs, and newsletters.
  • Acquire and maintain knowledge of REDCAM and University policies, principles, and strategies and relevant developments.
  • Facilitate the resolution of disputes with external role-players.
  • Ensure content follows the University style guide and is high-quality and error-free.
  • Brainstorm content ideas with internal stakeholders in line with REDCAM strategy and brand initiatives.
  • Support and evaluate communication campaign results with the team.
  • Build and maintain relationships with journalists and key external role-players.
  • Determine content topics; coordinate information gathering; write, edit, design, and distribute materials to students, alumni, donors, and community and business contacts.
  • Prepare and supervise production of press releases, announcements, brochures, event materials, photographs, newsletters, and related materials.
  • Promote a positive public image for REDCAM and the University.
  • Manage contracts and contractors for communications and archive-related projects, ensuring compliance with University policies and on-time, on-budget delivery.
  • Administer the supplier base to attain cost savings targets and support spending initiatives with diverse firms.
  • Track and report ongoing and anticipated project costs, manage commitments within available financial resources, and maintain short- and long-term project budgets.
  • Develop project management materials supporting new and updated communications or archive plans, programs, and requirements.
  • Provide leadership to manage large and complex communications and archives projects.
  • Facilitate establishment and collection of project requirements, objectives, and expectations and communicate them to project teams.
  • Monitor and maintain project documentation for capital projects.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports and proposals.
  • Collect statistical data and provide analytical reports.
  • Generate informational graphics and other media visualizations.
  • Develop and maintain REDCAM archives and catalogue systems for archival materials.
  • Provide technical and administrative assistance and information to staff.
  • Perform other duties as required.

  • Experience, interest, and familiarity with urban planning, architecture, design, history, and real estate development.
