Requirements
  • An undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline, such as Human Resources, Computer Science, Engineering, Biology, or Chemistry
  • Current Ontario driver’s license (Class G) with an acceptable driver’s abstract
  • Relevant experience with co-op/internship programs, sales and marketing, human resources, and/or recruiting, preferably in an educational setting
  • Knowledge of all Brock co-op programs, recruitment, human resources, talent acquisition, on campus recruitment and the hiring cycle
  • Knowledge of industry trends and labour market demand for all co-op programs, specifically with an Engineering focus
  • Solid computer competency including Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, databases, web applications, social media, and internet search engines
  • Advanced communications skills (verbal, written and interpersonal), including professional public speaking, and a keen ability to “sell”
  • Ability to work with diverse groups, advising, coaching, and strategizing career planning objectives
  • Strong critical thinking with the ability to leverage existing resources to solve problems
Responsibilities
  • Engage and motivate Faculty of Math & Science co-op students effectively through their co-op job search and on job performance that will meet our student co-op employment rate and work term success rate
  • Effectively coach students with their skill development by applying thorough understanding of labour market trends and academic curriculum
  • Conduct critical reflection and labour market analysis to help students establish realistic expectations of their goals for skill development
  • Continuously assess students’ needs, provide solutions, and track progress
  • Collaborate with the Talent Development Specialist and Talent Partnerships Consultant teams to understand talent profiles, provide feedback, and identify improvements
  • Support students encountering difficulties with job search process and/or on job performance by establishing and implementing an action plan
  • Collaborate with the Faculty of Math & Science (Integrated Engineering focus) to keep co-op students engaged through the co-op job search process
  • Maintain the student information database for qualitative and quantitative information on students’ skill development and engagement level
  • Participate, represent, and support work-related activities that require attendance outside of normal working hours, including but not limited to: Ontario Universities Fair – Toronto; Spring Open House – on campus; Fall Open House – on campus; Faculty Events
