Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • One year of experience in education or academic affairs.
  • Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four years of the required education.
  • Knowledge of program management and assessment.
  • Knowledge of and experience in developing and implementing instruction for higher education students.
  • Skill in the use of Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.
  • Ability to multitask while demonstrating a commitment to customer service and sensitivity to a culturally and ethnically diverse community.
Responsibilities
  • Use administrative and financial systems as needed to reconcile department accounts and prepare department budget.
  • Process travel requests, procurement, accounts payable procedures, and financial matters such as preparing overloads, invoices, payments to contractors (including farms).
  • Conduct survey of AGNR faculty’s international work
  • Assist with 2+2 program with international universities, including tracking applications and arranging events for students.
  • Act as liaison with Office of Admissions, international universities, and Maryland English Institute, to answer questions about admissions process, particular student applications, and to provide information on the AGNR 2+2 program.
  • AGNR Academic Programs department faculty on development and promotion of study abroad and student exchange.
  • Act as liaison between partner institutions and departments to facilitate visiting scholar appointments.
  • Responsible for working with faculty/travelers in coordinating travel; preparing, expediting and obtaining visas for international travel for IPAN and associated faculty.
  • Preparing cash travel advances, travel approvals and expense statements.
  • Assist with training programs, including training for delegations interested in 1 day training to workshops that last up to 3 weeks. Responsibilities include retaining speakers or subject matter experts, providing logistical support such as scheduling rooms, hotel, meals, and distributing materials.
  • Also provide fiscal responsibilities, such as paying or invoicing vendors, contractors, translators, etc.
  • Responsible for preparing and providing international activities information and briefs for college and campus publication; searching for grants; proofing grant applications, updating IPAN website and social media accounts.
Desired Qualifications
  • 1 – 2 years of administrative experience.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to work in fast paced setting.
  • Ability to multi-task or juggle several assignments.
  • Some experience with content management systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to write clearly and effectively.
  • Interest in international agriculture, environment or natural resources.
  • Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of administrative work experience.
  • Knowledge of Concur/SAP, the Student Award System, and Workday.
