Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • At least one year of full-time experience working in an ophthalmology practice is required.
  • Full working knowledge and hands-on experience with visual fields, corneal topography, intraocular lens, optical coherence tomography, A/B scans, fundus and external photography, and manifest refractions are required.
Responsibilities
  • Support the ophthalmology department and physicians, serving as the patient's first point of contact in the exam room.
  • Obtain baseline information for the physician, including all ancillary testing.
  • Perform initial history taking, including recording the presenting complaint, past ocular history, medications, and allergies.
  • Obtain and record visual acuity, refraction, color testing, lensometry, and intraocular pressure.
  • Perform ancillary testing, including visual fields, corneal topography, HRT, OCT A and B scans, and fundus photography.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • An associate's or bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Additional years of experience working in an ophthalmology multi-specialty practice are preferred.
  • Experience working with electronic medical records is preferred.
  • Ophthalmic certification is preferred.
