Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in an occupational therapy curriculum accredited by ACOTE standards.
  • Initial registration from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy.
  • A valid and unencumbered occupational therapy license as required in the state of practice.
  • Thorough knowledge of Medicare and third-party billing.
  • A minimum of four years of experience, preferably in long-term care.
Responsibilities
  • Assist therapy staff in the effective and efficient delivery of rehabilitation services, including adherence to plans of care, schedules, and timely documentation.
  • Assist in clinically managing rehabilitation personnel and consultants within facility or home care contracts.
  • Continue providing direct patient care.
  • Support high-quality rehabilitation services through resource utilization, clinical programs, and staff development.
  • Assist the Director of Rehab with customer service, practice-act compliance, scheduling, and clinical excellence.
  • Oversee or support case management, quality improvement, care planning, clinical utilization, and patient identification under a licensed therapist.
  • Attend facility meetings and share information at the Director of Rehab's direction.
  • Serve as a clinical go-to person in the gym.
  • Assist with clinical development and growth of therapy staff and identify opportunities for clinical growth.
  • Assist in developing, coordinating, and utilizing student and mentor programs.
  • Supervise Physical Therapist Assistants, Occupational Therapy Assistants, temporary licensees, students, and support personnel as necessary and in accordance with licensure and professional standards.
  • Attend and contribute to patient care, staffing conferences, and related meetings.
  • Make referrals to other disciplines and agencies to address patients' comprehensive needs.
  • Consult and collaborate with healthcare team members to select appropriate therapeutic regimens.
  • Adapt programs and plans of care to individual patient needs.
  • Conduct training programs and participate in training medical, nursing, and other personnel in treatment techniques and objectives.
  • Assess needs, develop and deliver therapy programs, and implement individualized programs to restore, reinforce, and enhance patient function.
  • Instruct, educate, and train patients and caregivers in skills that promote independence and productivity.
  • Direct activities that promote and maintain health.
