Requirements
  • A High School Diploma is required.
  • 0–1 year of related experience is required.
  • Computer skills, specifically knowledge of word processing applications, are required.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • The position requires travel between assigned facilities and various locations within the community; travel to regional, Business Unit, and Corporate meetings may be required.
  • The employee may be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases or materials.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain and retrieve medical records and patient charts in accordance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and confidentiality standards.
  • Prepare laboratory shipments, lab slips, tube labels, and related blood-work materials; pack and direct specimens to the appropriate laboratory.
  • Use the electronic health record and Document Imaging systems to enter, send, scan, retrieve, and report data.
  • Answer and route telephone calls, monitor and distribute incoming email and postal mail, and greet and direct visitors and patients.
  • Maintain facility supply inventory and replenish supplies, including ordering staff uniforms and name tags.
  • Assist with Daily Validation reports and processes, facility accounts receivable and accounts payable functions, purchase orders, document scanning, and travel reimbursement.
  • Collect and maintain data for facility reports, including Continuous Quality Improvement, comorbid documentation, and TAP reports.
  • Complete month-end reporting, generate reports, and audit records for compliance with medical-record standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of hospitalizations, patient travel, and related information to coordinate scheduling and ancillary testing.
  • Prepare medical records for fax or mail related to travel, transplant, disability, and other purposes.
  • Organize patient travel by contacting parties and providing requested medical records.
  • Coordinate transient-patient paperwork and transfer placements and confirmations with the Clinical Manager.
  • Confirm admissions paperwork is completed and sent to designated departments by collecting, faxing, and scanning documents.
  • Assist with medical appointment referrals, scheduling, transportation coordination, and referrals.
  • Enter required government reporting data in Crown Web, including ESRD 2728, ESRD 2746, and PART.
  • Prepare and type routine correspondence and reports; maintain filing systems and basic databases; and complete required forms.
  • Maintain the facility calendar and daily schedule, arrange meetings and appointments, record meeting minutes, and provide documentation.
  • Make copies of correspondence and printed documents as requested by the manager.
  • Assist with basic personnel and administrative functions and provide backup to other clerical staff.
  • Centrifuge or refrigerate blood according to laboratory specifications and assist with laboratory work processes.
  • Enter laboratory results into the electronic database.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including department- or location-specific functions.
