Requirements
  • Paralegal certification is required.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a litigation paralegal is required.
  • Experience with litigation in the state of Florida is highly encouraged.
  • A solid understanding of civil litigation, including state and federal deadlines and rules, is required.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat is required.
  • The ability to think and act independently with minimal supervision is required.
  • The candidate must have strong listening, verbal, and written communication skills and maintain a professional demeanor.
  • The candidate must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to meet deadlines.
Responsibilities
  • Assist attorneys with propounding and responding to discovery, including interrogatories, requests for admissions, requests for production, subpoenas, and deposition binders.
  • Assist attorneys with motions by preparing supporting documents and exhibits and preparing hearing binders.
  • Manage trial preparation, including coordination of witnesses and travel, trial exhibits, charts, trial notebooks, subpoenas, and page lines.
  • Independently obtain, review, and organize medical records and medical billings.
  • Calculate damages, including medical expenses, lost wages, and property damage.
  • Communicate routinely with clients, experts, and attorneys about case status and preparation.
  • Support attorneys through every phase of litigation, including case management, drafting and proofreading legal documents, organizing and reviewing litigation records, and preparing for depositions, hearings, and trials.
  • Use legal technology and case management tools to organize work and streamline workflows.
