Western Door Federal is seeking a multi-faceted individual whose primary strength is developing BI reports, but who can provide database support and operate as a software tester, as well. (Note: we are NOT looking for QA Engineers or Software Testers). As a BI Reports Developer/Application Tester you will be part of a small, 8-person team and will assist with supporting a legacy O&M web application system for the USDA Food and Nutrition Service.
The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and must have a solid background and understanding of SQL, with an in-depth understanding of how databases work. In addition to strong SQL Database experience, knowledge of complex reporting systems/software (Tableau, Crystal Reports, etc.) is required.
You should be willing to wear multiple hats. In this role, you’ll also be involved with application testing and must be able to effectively debug using Visual Studio.
This position is full-time remote but may require occasional travel to meet with customers in the Washington, DC Metro Area, or to connect with the team, which is primarily located in the Kansas City, MO, area.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Reports Development and Database Support:
- Write complex queries and reports using SQL in an Oracle environment
- Develop standardized and ad-hoc reports reporting using Crystal Reports and/or other similar reporting tools.
- Ensure production reports are accurate and delivered in a timely manner
- Debug, analyze and monitor SQL databases
- Develop SQLs for Oracle DB
Testing Support:
- Analyze functional requirements to generate a comprehensive set of test cases
- Execute test procedures, review data before and after, verifying defect fixes/in various releases
- Work closely with software developers to set up test data and pre-test software changes
- Perform front-end application testing
General Support:
- Participate in weekly rotation of system monitoring
- When necessary, perform tasks or publish new code/reports after normal business hours or on weekends
- Provide timely response and resolution of emergency production questions, issues, and defects
Minimum Requirements:
- US Citizen, and the ability to obtain and/or maintain a security clearance.
- Over 5 years’ experience and deep proficiency with SQL DB and Oracle.
- Over 5 years’ experience operating within a DevOps environment.
- Over 5 years’ experience developing reports in Crystal Reports, or similar reporting tool.
- Over 5 years’ experience in application support and software testing.
- Over 2 years’ experience with integrated development environment such as Visual Studio and source code/version control repository, such as GitHub
Basic Skills/Qualifications:
- Strong software debugging and analytical skills
- Must display a positive, constructive, and helpful demeanor to assist team members and offer suggestions that improve processes
