Your New Role…

CNN International is looking for an experienced Senior Writer and Editor to join its global features team in Atlanta. The successful candidate will have a meticulous eye for detail and a passion for first-class writing and storytelling. As an editor, we’re looking for someone with proven experience across a range of feature categories (news, sport, health, business, style, and travel). This position will do a mix of editing, commissioning and writing -- helping CNNI to maintain its high journalistic standards and ensure consistency of voice and tone across all output.

Your Role Accountabilities…

· Oversee the written work of Feature Writers and multi-platform Producers, while partnering closely with Executive Producers.

· Maintain CNNI’s high journalistic standards by fact-checking, editing and writing feature content that is balanced, fair and engaging to a global multi-platform audience.

· Be a guardian of CNNI’s editorial procedures and processes.

· Coach team members in how to write engaging stories, meeting regularly with Content Insight Analysts and Programmers to learn and share audience insights that help to deliver on sponsorship KPIs and the wider CNN Digital audience development goals.

· Ensure that stories are SEO optimized and built in a way that showcases the best of CNN’s sponsored content.

· Partner with CNN’s on-air talent to produce and edit written features for CNN’s

sponsored portfolio.

This position is based in Atlanta and will collaborate with a cross-functional team in London, Hong Kong, and Abu Dhabi.

Qualifications & Experience…

· Extensive knowledge of the international news agenda and curiosity to keep learning

· Experience working at a global news organization working on tight deadlines with the ability to be agile in a fast paced news environment.

· Minimum 7-years experience in writing and editing digital features.

· Creative ideas for digital storytelling

· Capable of adapting to different styles of writing depending on topic and platform

· Perfect grasp of written and spoken English

· Deep understanding of journalistic standards and media law

· Strong technical capabilities including working on different Content Management Systems and news operating systems.
