Requirements
  • Must be a graduate of an approved American College of Radiology school or a graduate of a Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology approved school of Radiology, and provide proof of current active certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiography
  • Must maintain current registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiography
  • May have temporary accreditation in Radiography with the Illinois Emergency Management Agency, Division of Nuclear Safety
  • CPR per American Heart Association guidelines required within 30 days of hire
  • Must work in a specialty location (e.g. Ambulatory Surgery Center, Orthopedics, Urgent Care) at least 80% of the time and/or take part in the departmental weekend and holiday rotation (or working as a Float, defined by the Imaging Operations Manager)
  • Knowledge of DR/DRX image acquisition and manipulation, including correcting data regarding patient information and image detail in PACS
  • Knowledge of and experience with computer systems: Radiology Information System including scheduling/rescheduling/replacing exams, completing exams, patient history, enter comments, enter 'stop' payments and print features; Electronic Health Record; Picture Archiving and Communication System; Employee Benefit system; Radiology home page

  • Must be capable of pushing, pulling, stooping, bending, lifting and twisting
  • Must be able with help to lift patient from cart to table
  • Must be able to work with arms above head
  • Must be able to wear lead apron for long periods of time
  • Must be able to walk and/or stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to assist patient to and from the table
  • Knowledge of and experience with DR/DRX image acquisition and manipulation, including correcting data regarding patient information and image detail in PACS
Responsibilities
  • Obtain a complete history on patients including obtaining previous related exams that will help evaluate the current exam
  • Produce quality radiographs
  • Select proper technical factors for each individual patient, according to established protocols
  • Provide proper shielding in accordance with prescribed radiation safety standards
  • Operate equipment as directed
  • Be knowledgeable with all procedures and protocols within the Radiology Department
  • Process films using an automatic processor at the MOHA location
  • Assist with the selection of technical factors using ALARA principles
  • Possess knowledge of DR/DRX image acquisition and manipulation, including correcting data regarding patient information and image detail in PACS
  • Maintain orderliness, cleanliness and cooperates with all personnel in the proper conduct of the department
  • Assemble films/images for interpretation by radiologists
  • Assist patients in transport within Radiology and throughout the Springfield Clinic campus
  • Will be responsible when using Springfield Clinic computers and telephones as needed for patient care
  • Knowledge of computer systems: RIS (to include scheduling/rescheduling/replacing exams, completing exams, patient history, enter comments, enter stop payments and print features), EHR, PACS, Employee Benefit system, Radiology home page
  • May assist in the use of a variety of equipment and procedures
  • Knowledge of sterile procedure and of sterilization procedure for sterile supplies
  • Knowledge of general scheduler duties
  • Knowledge of Prompt Care workflow
  • Knowledge of workflow to obtain reports on images
  • Put away incoming supplies and inform Supervisor of supplies needed
  • Clean cassettes on a regular basis
  • Check for outdates on a regular basis
  • Report any equipment failures to Supervisor and have general knowledge to troubleshoot equipment for problems and call for service if necessary
  • Submit proper forms to request for paid time off and enter time off in payroll tracking system
  • Provide orientation/training of new technologists and other Radiology staff
  • Responsible for coverage in Ambulatory Surgery, Pain Clinic (if working in ASC/Pain Clinic) and Diagnostic Radiology with varying shifts
  • Obtain diagnostic radiographs utilizing proper exposure factors consistent with ALARA according to protocols established by Springfield Clinic Radiologists
  • Ability to operate a C-Arm if working in ASC/Pain Clinic
  • Knowledge of and experience in DR/DRX image acquisition and manipulation, including correcting data regarding patient information and image detail in PACS
  • Knowledgeable of all procedures and protocols in the Surgery department, Pain Clinic and Radiology department
  • Comply with the Springfield Clinic incident reporting policy and procedures
  • Adhere to all OSHA and Springfield Clinic training & accomplishments as required per policy
  • Provide excellent customer service and adhere to Springfield Clinic's Code of Conduct and Ethics Standards
