Requirements
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Athletic Training is required.
  • Graduate from a college or university accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education.
  • Hold an unrestricted state license, registration, or certification in an eligible regulated jurisdiction to practice as an Athletic Trainer.
  • Pass the Board of Certification examination for Athletic Trainers.
  • Hold a National Provider Identifier.
  • Have at least two years of relevant Athletic Trainer work experience within the last three years after Board of Certification completion.
  • Demonstrate experience working with high school, collegiate, or professional sports, military, performing arts, and/or occupational health.
  • Demonstrate experience developing and executing environment-specific functional injury control and health and well-being programs for groups of athletes.
  • Be a U.S. citizen.
  • Pass a background check and drug screen.
  • Maintain current physical and immunizations.
  • Lift and manipulate loads or weights up to 20 kilograms/45 pounds.
  • Maintain current Basic Life Support certification for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, including Automated External Defibrillator certification.
  • Communicate effectively in English, orally and in writing.
  • Operate a computer using Microsoft applications such as Word and Excel.
  • Maintain current certification and licensing requirements and keep credentialing documentation up to date.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned units at the brigade, battalion, or company level.
  • Provide forward musculoskeletal care, early medical intervention, injury prevention, and performance optimization services in fitness centers, unit areas, outdoor settings, ranges, field training environments, and the Soldier Performance Readiness Center.
  • Provide medical treatment under the supervision of a privileged government healthcare provider.
  • Observe brigade and subordinate-unit training events such as shooting ranges, obstacle courses, and combative training areas.
  • Hike austere environments and terrain while occasionally carrying a backpack with necessary supplies.
  • Participate in government-based education and in-service training mandated by the local installation.
  • Engage in continuing education programs to meet Athletic Trainer license or certification renewal requirements.
  • Conduct business Monday through Friday, with services potentially scheduled outside normal operating hours and on weekends based on brigade schedules and locations.
  • Work a 40-hour week and/or 80 hours within a two-week period to accommodate training schedules.
