Requirements
  • At least 2 years of experience in photovoltaic solar and/or photovoltaic solar operations and maintenance.
  • At least 3 years of experience in electrical, electronic, and/or network communications.
  • A California Electrical License or Electrical Contractors license is preferred.
  • Knowledge of solar and/or alternative energy markets is preferred.
  • Knowledge of National Electric Code and Electrical Safety Codes is preferred.
  • Proficiency in the English language, both written and verbal, is required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, is required.
  • Ability to work from heights, on ladders, or lift equipment is required.
  • On-call availability is required, and daily onsite presence is expected.
Responsibilities
  • Commission, troubleshoot, repair, and analyze utility and commercial inverters, photovoltaic solar equipment, and customer site equipment in the field.
  • Perform direct-current tracker system maintenance, panel replacement, substation switching, site inspections, and inverter system operations.
  • Operate heavy equipment as required by site conditions and scope.
  • Develop detailed knowledge of SMA and other utility and commercial inverter products, associated photovoltaic accessories, site equipment, and third-party accessories installed at the customer site.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of applicable National Electric Code and Electrical Safety Codes, including NEC, NFPA 70E, NESC, and OSHA.
  • Work regularly with high-voltage direct-current electricity, low- and medium-voltage three-phase power, SCADA or third-party monitoring, and the relevant software and firmware of inverter and site equipment.
  • Perform operations and maintenance activities across the full scope of the site, not limited to inverter work.
  • Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Operations and maintenance field experience is strongly preferred; back-shop or shop electrical backgrounds are also considered.
  • NABCEP Certification is strongly preferred.
  • German and/or Spanish language skills are a plus.
  • Forklift experience is a plus.
