Requirements
  • Secondary school education and/or completion of high school, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A valid British Columbia driver’s license or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Willingness to respect diverse perspectives, including perspectives in conflict with one’s own.
  • Commitment to enhancing one’s own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with the maintenance of hard landscapes and perform general labour duties using specialized equipment.
  • Perform general physical work and assist in the construction and maintenance of structures, pipelines, and drainage systems.
  • Perform hard landscape maintenance, campus cleanup, road and sidewalk repair, and other tasks not requiring specialized skills.
  • Operate light, medium, and heavy vehicles and specialized construction and maintenance equipment, including power washers, backpack blowers, jack hammers, tampers, concrete vibrators, concrete and asphalt coring and cutting equipment, sandblasting equipment, bobcats, boom lifts, scissor lifts, and pallet jacks.
  • Monitor the work of a group of labourers in an assigned area when designated, participate in the work, and ensure work is performed correctly and safely.
  • Request and receive tools, equipment, and materials for assigned work.
  • Work weekends, evenings, or overnight when needed to assist with weather-related events.
  • Carry out other related duties consistent with the qualifications and requirements of the classification.
