Requirements
  • Degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or Chemistry (Organic, Materials, or related), PhD preferred but not required
  • 10 years or more work experience related to automotive lubricants
  • Detailed knowledge of lubricant additives chemistry and formulation, with application testing expertise
  • Knowledge of automotive lubricant technology (including for EVs); up-to-date on the latest lubricant developments, applications, and test methods
  • Has an existing connected network within relevant industry trade organizations
  • Strong leadership skills; experience supervising R&D teams; experience with executive presentations
  • Creative entrepreneurial skills: Must be a self-starter who takes action quickly to develop new solutions and meet goals
Responsibilities
  • Tasked with understanding the impact of electric vehicle on our Lubricant Additives Business (LAB) unit including its impact on our existing solutions and opportunities for development of new solutions
  • Develop new and improved products in alignment with customer needs for automotive applications including for electric vehicles (e.g., driveline fluids), including conducting bench testing
  • Attend key automotive trade organization meetings (API, ASTM, CTI, ILSAC, STLE, etc.), build network, understand trends and specs, and advocate for our position; Share feedback across LAB organization
  • Develop automotive application performance data to support the sale of existing and new products (antioxidants, friction modifiers, driveline fluids, etc.), including conducting bench testing
  • Manage application testing lab to ensure lab compliance, safety and efficiency; Provide timely testing results and technical support for sales and product development efforts
  • Give external presentations and lectures at international conferences/trade fairs and with customers
  • Give internal presentations to senior LAB leadership and colleagues, sharing automotive application knowledge and technical developments
  • Serve as a senior leader in our Application Technology team; Serve as a mentor to junior colleagues
