Requirements
  • Hands-on experience supporting AWS environments.

  • Solid understanding of AWS cloud infrastructure concepts, including compute, storage, networking, security groups, DNS, and identity and access management.
  • Proficiency in Windows and/or Linux server administration.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a team of four cloud operations engineers, including work allocation, coaching, development, and performance management.
  • Participate in a rotating weekly on-call schedule.
  • Support audit activities by gathering findings and creating and providing documentation in accordance with audit requirements.
  • Independently own a portfolio of work and projects, from defining the approach through execution.
  • Identify, propose, and implement cost-optimization improvements.
  • Identify and implement operational improvements, including automation and process refinement where appropriate.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all configurations and procedures, and ensure the team follows documentation standards.
  • Work with cross-functional and vendor teams to coordinate fixes, maintenance, and escalations.
  • Maintain compliance with security and operational standards, including administrative account control, patch status, services, and logging.
  • Support incident management, root cause analysis, and problem resolution within service-level agreement expectations.
  • Provide technical leadership for troubleshooting and resolving infrastructure issues involving compute, storage, networking, DNS, identity and access management, and application connectivity.
  • Perform and oversee patching, upgrades, maintenance, and routine operational tasks through approved change management processes.
  • Monitor the health, performance, and utilization of the AWS GovCloud environments, respond to alerts, and escalate issues as appropriate.
  • Set team priorities and coordinate operational workload across incidents, service requests, maintenance activities, and project work.
  • Remain hands-on in supporting the deployment, configuration, and management of AWS GovCloud infrastructure, including compute, storage, and networking.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience supporting regulated, government, or highly controlled cloud environments.
  • Previous experience mentoring, coaching, and developing engineers.
  • Previous experience working on a geographically dispersed team.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve operational stability, efficiency, and resilience over time.
  • Experience in Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program or GovRAMP environments.
  • Experience using artificial intelligence tools to enhance productivity and support scripting, troubleshooting, and documentation.
  • Experience using Agile tools to plan, track, and manage operational work.
  • Experience with Information Technology Infrastructure Library-based incident, change, and problem management processes.
  • AWS certification or equivalent cloud credentials.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as CloudWatch and basic log analysis.
  • Scripting or automation experience.
  • Previous audit experience, including gathering findings and creating and providing documentation in accordance with audit requirements.
