Requirements
  • Completed doctoral degree awarded by an institution that is accredited by a USDE-recognized institutional accrediting body required (or equivalent)
  • Must have an active Texas state license (or be license eligible) as an Occupational Therapist and possess an initial NBCOT certification
  • Minimum 3-5 years of clinical experience with adult populations
Responsibilities
  • Develop a curriculum for the adult population following ACOTE guidelines and teach graduate students using transformative learning models
  • Maintain and monitor adult occupations lab space
  • Participate in curriculum design, program evaluation, accreditation responsibilities, and holistic application review
  • Serve as admissions coordinator for the new program, including facilitating outreach and awareness in the community
  • Participate in interdisciplinary and intradisciplinary curriculum planning
  • Mentor doctoral-level graduate students in community settings and collaborate to create new, innovative opportunities within the rural community
  • Mentor doctoral-level graduate capstone projects
  • Demonstrate a commitment to building an accessible scholarly environment
  • 100% Teaching and Service: Develop, implement, and review effective teaching/learning processes, incorporating appropriate methodology, technology, and other tools; Remain current in discipline and update course content when appropriate to reflect current levels of student knowledge in the discipline; Develop a system for ongoing evaluation of both teaching and learning, including expectations of student competency and student learning outcomes; Work in partnership with immediate supervisor through a formal system of evaluation of instruction to identify strengths and weaknesses and identify professional development activities to improve student learning. May be required to teach at other campuses or online. Maintain appropriate schedule of office hours for student access and inquiry; Work in partnership with student success personnel on student advising and orientation. Participate in institutional service roles such as but not limited to, college committees, club sponsorship, advisory committees, student/faculty recruitment, and mentoring of new and part-time faculty.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous teaching experience for an ACOTE-accredited occupational therapy education program. However, Occupational Therapists new to academia are encouraged to apply. They will have the opportunity to work in a highly collaborative environment with active and supportive mentoring and faculty development training.
  • Experience in rural care and/or underserved populations preferred
  • Record of scholarly activities/research line and of credentials
  • Evidence in responsiveness to current trends in occupational therapy practice and/or education and evidence of professional service at the local, state, and/or national level
