Requirements
  • A minimum of 5–7 years of extensive, hands-on experience in medical bill review.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory, team-lead, or senior mentoring capacity.
  • Documented experience providing legal services, expert witness reports, or trial testimony regarding medical bill reasonableness and usual, customary, and reasonable value analysis.
  • Advanced proficiency in major industry-standard medical bill review platforms, such as Conduent/StrataCare, Mitchell/Enlyte, Medata, or CompIQ, or similar platforms.
  • An active industry certification is strictly required, such as Certified Professional Coder or Certified Coding Specialist.
  • The ability to identify subtle patterns of healthcare fraud, waste, abuse, and systemic billing irregularities.
  • The ability to maintain a poised and articulate communication style under examination and expert testimony pressure.
  • Texas-based location or extensive experience testifying within the Texas court system and applying Texas statutory fee schedules.
Responsibilities
  • Lead day-to-day medical bill review operations while maintaining a production workload focused on high-dollar, complex medical bill review and legal cases.
  • Supervise, mentor, and audit expert bill review staff and contract experts to ensure accuracy, productivity, and adherence to turnaround times.
  • Directly review complex, high-dollar, or disputed medical bills, including trauma and inpatient-stay bills.
  • Conduct regular quality-control audits of team output, identify training gaps, and update standard operating procedures.
  • Administer and optimize medical bill review software, including workflows, auto-adjudication rules, and engine logic specific to company and client preferences and requirements.
  • Apply national repricing mechanisms and payer guidelines to maximize accuracy and identify erroneous billing and overbilling.
  • Ensure correct application of fee schedules, line-item audits, Correct Coding Initiative edits, and clinical validation rules across commercial, auto or personal-injury-protection, and workers' compensation lines.
  • Conduct comprehensive forensic reviews of medical records, itemized bills, and payment ledgers for litigation cases.
  • Author legally defensible expert reports outlining billing accuracy, unbundling, upcoding, or phantom charges.
  • Provide deposition and trial testimony as a designated expert witness, translating complex coding systems such as Current Procedural Terminology, International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision, Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System, and Diagnosis-Related Group into plain language.
  • Apply Texas-specific codes and regulations, including the Texas Labor Code for workers' compensation, Texas Civil Practice and Remedies Code Section 18.001 affidavits, and Texas Department of Insurance regulations.
  • Manage team responsibilities, daily production queues, and deadlines while pivoting between operational and legal-services work.

Quad-C invests in Dane Street to expand medical examination services platform

Quad-C Management has invested in Dane Street, a national provider of Independent Medical Examination and Peer Review services serving over 300 clients in the insurance and healthcare sectors. Financial terms were not disclosed. Founded in 2008 and based in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, Dane Street provides medical evaluation and review services to Workers' Compensation, Auto, Disability and Group Health insurance markets. Its clients include major insurance carriers, third-party administrators, health plans and law firms. The existing management team, led by CEO Greg Powers, will remain in place. Founder Will Fulton will join the board of directors and retain a significant shareholding. The partnership will enable Dane Street to accelerate growth through organic expansion and strategic acquisitions. Quad-C, founded in 1989, has invested $4.7 billion across 88 platform companies.
