Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited or National League for Nursing-approved Registered Nurse program is required.
  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing or higher degree in nursing is required.
  • A current Registered Nurse license in the state of New Hampshire is required.
  • Professional specialty certification is required or must be obtained within six months of hire.
  • Strong clinical judgment, leadership, communication, case management, and collaboration skills are required.
Responsibilities
  • Ensure department functioning in accordance with regulatory agencies, state statutes, and practice standards, including DNV, TJC, SHA, CMS, and HIPAA.
  • Promote the use of evidence-based clinical practice.
  • Champion the EHS Professional Practice Model and use Elliot’s nursing theory to guide nursing practice.
  • Support Elliot Health System policies and procedures for safe patient care and collaborate on reviewing and revising nursing policies, procedures, protocols, guidelines, and standards of care.
  • Collaborate with Nursing Leadership to develop, implement, and monitor departmental educational programs.
  • Foster participation in developing and implementing annual departmental goals and objectives.
  • Support the development of business and marketing plans.
  • Ensure the appropriate experience mix and number of staff are available to meet patient population needs.
  • Collaborate on interdisciplinary teams to develop, implement, and evaluate quality management activities.
  • Interview and select candidates for employment with Human Resources.
  • Initiate and approve personnel activities, including hiring, transferring, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and terminating employees.
  • Establish and communicate performance expectations and assist with professional-goal development for staff members.
  • Monitor and evaluate staff performance, conduct coaching, and complete annual performance evaluations.
  • Support shared governance and staff participation in committees, projects, educational programs, and unit goals.
  • Evaluate vacancy and turnover trends and develop plans to address departmental needs.
  • Encourage and support staff in achieving specialty certification.
  • Prepare annual departmental budgets, including projected office visits, revenues, staffing plans, operating expenses, and capital requests.
  • Manage full-time-equivalent staffing levels to meet staffing standards.
  • Monitor and report monthly financial performance, identify variances, and recommend improvements.
  • Monitor, approve, and submit complete and accurate payroll for clinical staff.
  • Maintain active involvement in hospital and nursing committees.
  • Maintain membership in professional or community organizations and boards.
  • Provide occupational health assessment, treatment, first aid, immunizations, fitness-for-duty evaluations, and crisis intervention.
  • Oversee pre-placement medical evaluations, injury and illness management, return-to-work coordination, disability case management, regulatory compliance, and health surveillance programs.
  • Develop and implement programs that minimize workplace injury, support employee health, and reduce lost work time.
  • Report operational metrics to GE leadership and participate in disability and workers’ compensation review meetings.
  • Support Environmental Health and Safety initiatives and continuously improve occupational health processes.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master’s degree in nursing or healthcare is preferred.
  • At least three years of recent ambulatory clinical experience is preferred.
  • Previous management or leadership experience is strongly preferred.
