Requirements
  • A terminal degree in Architecture and/or a Ph.D or ABD (All But Dissertation).
  • Expertise and experience in history and theory of architecture and/or urban design, design thinking, and technology (structures, systems, computation, artificial intelligence).
  • A strong design portfolio and experience teaching core courses in history and theory lectures, and/or urban design, design thinking, technology (structures, systems, computation, AI) as well as architectural design studios.
  • Candidates for assistant professor must show potential for producing scholarship through peer-reviewed publications, exhibitions, or symposia with national or international recognition.
  • Candidates for tenured Associate Professor must have a record of scholarship through peer-reviewed publications, exhibitions, or symposia with national or international recognition.
  • Faculty are expected to carry a load of 15 credits in an academic year, in addition to research and service requirements.
  • Candidates are expected to provide collegial leadership in a team-based environment, participate in strategic planning for the program, advise students, assist with NAAB Accreditation, and collaborate with community organizations and partners.
  • The department seeks a diverse, inclusive, and equitable faculty and expects involvement in preparing students to respond to social, cultural, technological, and environmental challenges.
Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate-level lecture and seminar courses corresponding to their area of focus, along with architectural design studios.
  • Advise students and participate in departmental service.
  • Assist with NAAB Accreditation and collaborate with community organizations and partners.
Desired Qualifications
  • Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate cross-disciplinary approaches that integrate across art, architecture, and engineering.
  • Strong national or international recognition in scholarship, exhibitions, or symposia for associate rank is desirable.
  • Cross-disciplinary collaboration and leadership in interdisciplinary contexts is desirable.
