Requirements
  • Must possess a current registered nurse license.

Responsibilities
  • Provide coaching, leadership, and resource support to Nurse Case Managers and unlicensed clinical professionals.
  • Assign cases in a timely manner, conduct quality reviews, and support staff in maximizing caseloads with high clinical value.
  • Assist with budget preparation and adhere to budget parameters.
  • Maintain a modified caseload and assume case management responsibilities for staff coverage.
  • Lead by example to support a highly functioning managed care team.
  • Provide service recovery using BMMS cultural values and policies and procedures.
  • Develop nursing competencies, manage competencies to ensure proficiency, and assess each team member annually.
  • Interview and facilitate hiring of new nurse case managers and BMMS team members.
  • Orient all new hires.
  • Oversee and ensure proper timekeeping and payroll timecard entries.
  • Prepare performance evaluations and provide counseling and goal setting.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with coworkers, team members, leadership, vendors, and Berkley operating units.
  • Report trends, changes, and suggested enhancements to senior leadership in a timely manner.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and clients at all levels.
  • Complete assigned tasks and projects in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner.
  • Travel domestically within the United States up to 10% of the time.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

W. R. Berkley forms Berkley Meridian through merger of Verus and Vela Insurance

W. R. Berkley Corporation has formed Berkley Meridian, a new specialty insurance business combining Verus Specialty Insurance and Vela Insurance Services. Marlo M. Morrison will serve as president of the new entity. The business will unite underwriting capabilities and expertise across construction, professional liability, garage, casualty, and other specialty lines, focusing on the excess and surplus wholesale broker market. Integration has begun and is expected to continue into early 2027. Morrison joined Verus Specialty Insurance as president in 2019, bringing nearly 30 years of property and casualty insurance experience. W. Robert Berkley, Jr., chairman and chief executive officer of W. R. Berkley Corporation, said the combination will allow the company to leverage expertise and provide a broader suite of solutions. W. R. Berkley misses Q2 revenue estimates but beats profit forecasts by 17.3%

W. R. Berkley, a property casualty insurer, missed revenue expectations in Q2 CY2026, with sales rising just 1.2% year-on-year to $3.72 billion, falling short of the $3.77 billion analyst estimate. The company's net premiums earned reached $3.19 billion, roughly in line with expectations. However, W. R. Berkley exceeded profit forecasts, reporting non-GAAP earnings of $1.27 per share, beating analyst consensus by 17.3%. The combined ratio of 90% also outperformed estimates of 91.4%.
