The Proposal Estimator is responsible for developing technical documentation and estimates that respond to Customers Request for Proposals (RFPs). The Proposal Estimator’s primary responsibility is to ensure that all technical requirements provided in the RFP are covered in Beta’s response to the RFP. Beta’s response to Customer RFPs is in the form of a proposal that includes pricing and bid forms, scope of work, project schedule, terms and conditions, execution plans with org charts, drawings, equipment information and additional data.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Reads and understands all project documents to obtain a clear understanding of the project scope of work.
• Generate all preliminary drawings required for the proposal, such as oneline’s, general arrangements, grounding plans, conduit plans, and building layouts.
• Generates clear and accurate RFQ’s for vendors and contractors for material and labor as required per the proposal scope of work and specifications.
• Evaluates RFQ’s received from vendors and contractors for compliance with the request.
• Compares RFQ’s received from vendors and contractors for differences that affect pricing and comparison to ensure that contractor and vendors are selected for inclusion based on price and compliance.
• Generates the Proest project and populates estimates based on scope and RFQ’s received.
• Develops a preliminary project schedule.
• Coordinates with contractors and Beta’s execution team to develop engineering and construction timelines that support the scope of work and Beta’s execution plan.
• Coordinates with execution departments for support during the proposal as required.
• Coordinates with the execution team to develop hour estimates to be used for estimating.
• Assists Proposal Manager in the organization and development of presentations for potential customers.
• Participates in department and pre-bid meetings as requested.
• Recognizes and recommends methods to increase productivity and quality.
• Recognizes and recommends methods to improve every customer’s experience.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Vocational or technical certification or an Associate Degree in the engineering field is the minimum requirement.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial, Civil or Electrical Engineering Technology, Construction Management or related field is preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
• Strong background in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook is required.
• Experience with AutoCAD is required.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Will work in an office environment with minimal exposure to dust, noise, and other environmental hazards.
• Exposed to office equipment with moving parts and cutting blades which require caution in their use.
• Overnight travel is required to an active pre-bid and proposed bid sites. Ability to perform duties safely and to adhere to each job site’s safety requirements; while working on an active job site, outdoors, is a requirement.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on occasion.
• Use of company vehicle.
