Requirements
  • This role is to enable a new robotic platform enabling expanding Cruise's capabilities
  • You'll be given the opportunity to define a new product class inside Cruise from inside AV-Development
  • In this position you will collaborate with teams working on scaling and our technical advisors
  • If you're interested in making an impact and helping define new products, we're looking to chat with you!
  • M.S or Ph.D in Robotics, Electrical, Mechanical or related field and 5+ years of experience
  • You should have experience integrating payloads onto robotic systems to solve problems
  • You have a solid understanding of the software stack for a robot and how different modules work together
  • You should have experience designing, implementing, integrating and testing electromechanical systems
  • You are comfortable writing C++ and Python and have opinions on when to use each of them
  • You have experience modifying and writing nodes for ROS, and integrating your work with external APIs
  • You understand extrinsics and intrinsics and reference frames
  • You #ownit and have a bias toward action in how you approach problems
  • You understand how to #beacustomer and proactively identify issues before they're out in the field

Responsibilities
  • Define the scope and operational domain of a new robotics systems
  • Prototype electromechanical systems to solve challenging problems for our operations teams
  • Working with mechanical, electrical and software engineers to define and execute on platform requirements
  • Integrate this new platform with our existing hardware and cloud services
  • You understand package handling and understand solving this generalized problem
