About the Role:
TravelPerk is on a mission to empower in-real-life connections through its business travel management platform. Doing so requires helping companies’ finance teams manage expenses and accounting, as much as empowering business travellers. We are looking for a product-minded Tax advisory lead to help shape our finance-related value propositions, helping companies stay compliant, close their books fast and claim back business travel tax smoothly.
In this role, you will lead on VAT advisory globally, with an initial focus on the German market You will work closely with the product, go-to-market and operations teams to deliver world-class business travel value propositions, helping our customers achieve seamless financial operations.
You will ensure compliance of our offering in an ever changing regulatory landscape across Europe, the UK and North America. You will translate new and existing regulations into opportunities to exceed customer expectations and simplify their financial processes. Close collaboration with the product squad is critical to ensure our offerings remain competitive and user-centric. Additionally, this role involves leading the evolution of our global tax capability, and developing strong external partnerships to always stay ahead of the regulatory landscape in our global markets.
What you’ll do
- Translate VAT and invoicing expertise into strategic insights, working closely with the product team to identify new ways to enhance our overall offering.
- VAT advisory: Act as the main VAT advisor to our customers and internal teams, providing guidance and ensuring compliance with relevant VAT laws and regulations across different jurisdictions.
- Lead our global tax capability: anticipate local requirements and ensure effective resourcing for our global tax capability, ensuring we meet objectives and deliver exceptional work.
- External partnerships: Forge and maintain relationships with tax advisors, regulatory bodies, and other external partners to ensure access to necessary expertise and support.
What will you need to succeed?
- 10+ years of experience in indirect tax in Europe, with extensive knowledge on German regulations
- You balance strong domain expertise with operational pragmatism
- You understand and speak the language of product development teams
- Fluency in English and German, both written and spoken, to effectively manage responsibilities in our key markets.
- Strong executive presence and ability to lead and influence our internal stakeholders & customers around their subject matter
- Exceptional communication and influencing skills across our key customer stakeholders

Our Vision is for a world where TravelPerk serves as the platform for human connection in-real-life (IRL). We take an IRL-first approach to work, where our team works together in-person 3 days a week. As such, this role requires you to be based within commuting distance of our London hub.
