Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance or related science field.
  • Three years of professional business or management experience.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Experience in a clinical setting preferred.
Responsibilities
  • Assists in coordinating, providing input for, monitoring and improving the administrative, human resources and clinical operational activities for a division or other department sub-unit with teaching, research and clinical service responsibilities.
  • Assists in planning, implementing and evaluating a variety of activities and special projects affecting area's operations.
  • Coordinates or assists in preparing departmental budgets and forecasts of future budget requirements.
  • May ensure that awarded grants conform to defined budget parameters.
  • Negotiates new and renewal contracts with vendors.
  • Directs logical and clerical support activities, and coordinates specific data collection efforts and special projects.
  • Designs and generates reports.
  • May supervise staff.
  • Reports directly to the Division or Unit Director and indirectly to the Department Administrator and Chair.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.
  • Assist and lead a variety of projects in support of the department’s administrative operations both independently and with teams.
  • Assist in managing day-to-day operations across all clinical divisions, ensuring alignment with departmental goals and hospital standards.
  • Develop and maintain reporting tools, dashboards (e.g., KPIs for all medicine services), and presentations to support strategic decision-making by service chiefs and directors.
  • Lead and support quality and process improvement initiatives that enhance patient care, operational efficiency, and clinical outcomes.
  • Collaborate with leaders across divisions beyond Hospital Medicine to support departmental projects and initiatives.
  • Assist in budget planning, financial analysis, and resource allocation to ensure fiscal responsibility and transparency.
  • Contribute to HR functions including staffing analysis, onboarding, and performance tracking in coordination with HR partners.
  • Proactively seek new assignments and opportunities to contribute to the department’s mission, demonstrating a high level of engagement and initiative.
Desired Qualifications
  • Master's degree in healthcare administration, public health or business with a focus on healthcare.
  • Experience working in an academic medical center or large hospital system.
  • Familiarity with hospital operations.
  • Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional teams and departmental initiatives.
  • Ability to translate complex data into actionable insights for clinical and administrative stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, advanced formulas, and data visualization.
  • Experience with EPIC electronic medical records system.
  • Proven experience in quality improvement and data-driven healthcare initiatives.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative mindset.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • A positive, inquisitive, and solutions-oriented mindset.
