Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in Human Resources, with a focus on policy management and compliance.
  • Must be able to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Practical experience and knowledge of HR laws, regulations, and compliance requirements at the federal, state, and local levels.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills; and ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects from end to end.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills; ability to work in a high-volume and deadline-driven environment.
  • Proven analytic and quantitative skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience in managing and developing HR initiatives and special projects.

Responsibilities
  • Build effective and trusted partnerships with management and staff to foster NYCEDC's high-performing and engaged culture.
  • Conduct regular check-ins with leadership of respective departments to understand business objectives.
  • Manage and resolve employee relations issues, including conducting investigations and ensuring fair, timely resolutions.
  • Educate, coach, and partner with managers on performance management and employee development goals.
  • Lead core HR processes across employee lifecycles such as onboarding and offboarding, providing a seamless, high-touch experience from new hire orientation to exit interviews.
  • Analyze and interpret various types of employee reports (e.g. performance, attrition) to guide decision making and provide proactive solutions to target client groups.
  • Oversee the management, tracking, and updating of HR policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations; manage compliance audits such as residency audits, Department of Investigations, and Conflict of Interest Board requirements.
  • Collaborate across all HR functions to support organizational objectives to confirm all initiatives and HR policies are in alignment with DEIA (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility) objectives.
  • Execute company-wide annual HR programs and initiatives, including presentation development support and writing communications for HR initiatives and special projects.
  • Ensure all documentation is captured in appropriate HR systems, files, and platforms.
  • Other duties as assigned.
