The Senior Data Engineer, IT creates and manages structures and analytic solutions that turn data into insights. Priorities in this role include designing, developing, and maintaining data solutions, crafting and executing queries, and presenting information in reports and dashboards. The Senior Data Engineer, IT supports business intelligence efforts by leading and mentoring the team in Data Warehouse schema development, ETL, SQL, optimization, testing, Agile/Scrum activities, visualization, automation, and leading build projects.
WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO:
Collaborates with Product Owner to ensure clarity of business requirements
Clarifies business requirements for team members
Translates business requirements into technical implementation
Develops data warehouse schema by profiling data, updating modeling star schema, and mapping data sources to star schema
Creates ETL processes and troubleshoot ETL failures
Performs SQL coding, performance tuning, and query optimization
First point of contact for SQL engine and setup
Unit tests own code, tests/validates others’ code, performs integrative testing
Participates as team member and leader in Agile/Scrum team
Effectively uses and manages Atlassian/JIRA for projects
Leads projects and manages project team members
Identifies and fixes bugs
Creates, modifies, and optimizes reports and dashboards using Tableau and Salesforce
Monitors and resolves system performance
Develops ad hoc queries as requested to support business customers
Responds to and supports business partners through ticketing system and office hours
Supports team efforts and builds authentic relationships with individuals in work groups and teams
Actively mentors other team members
Consistently demonstrates and lives Point B cultural tenets and values
Participates in firm culture activities to connect regularly with other Point B’ers (e.g., FW Ops Meetings, Geo Meetings)

WHAT WE EXPECT YOU’VE ALREADY DONE:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
High level of project organization, attention to detail, and time management
Ability to translate business requirements into technical implementation
Experience working with third party vendor resources
Ability to multi-task and react positively to frequent changes in priorities, focusing on outcomes
Strong oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in good coordination with matrixed teams and manager, including internal, external, and remote staff
Demonstrated problem-solving and critical thinking skills
Excellent interpersonal skills, characterized by presence, respect for others, good listening skills, clear writing and thinking skills and ability to think on his/her feet
Drives for optimal solutions that are simple and add value; prevents unsustainable complexity
Ability to anticipate, recognize, and respond to stakeholder needs and requests
Possesses executive presence
10+ years relevant experience suggested; prioritizing agility and depth of technical knowledge (vs specific number of years)

YOUR OFFICE HOME BASE:
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
The estimated salary range for this role is $113,000 - $187,000 USD per year. This salary range is provided as required by local and state law as applicable. Individual salaries vary on a number of factors including but not limited to geography, skills, education, experience and unique qualifications where applicable.
Bonuses are awarded at Point B’s discretion and are based upon individual contributions and overall firm performance.
