Responsibilities
  • Back-up to the Administrative Coordinator
  • Arrives to work by 6:00AM
  • Assists Customer Service Center when needed and cover breaks and lunch breaks
  • Responsible for completing the daily reconciliation, accounting, and VeriBalance functions
  • Monitors cashier accountability and researches and reports problems and shortages to the Service Operations/Front End Manager and Store Director
  • Partners with Division Loss Prevention and Front End management team to resolve cash and other shrink issues
  • Maintains sales book and reports daily and/or weekly sales information to the Division Office
  • Assists the Store Director with billing and invoices
  • Performs miscellaneous administrative duties such as ordering money orders, bus passes, lottery, gift cards, postage and change
  • Reports attendance problems to the Store Director and appropriate department manager in a timely manner
  • Reviews internal and external applications, conducts screening interviews and coordinates department manager interviews
  • Administers the job-posting program and manages pre-employment drug testing and tax credit process
  • Completes the new hire process, coordinates training, and conducts orientation and other training programs
  • Coordinates and maintains all aspects of the hiring process including the computer assisted application and hiring process
  • May attend outside recruiting activities, such as job fairs
  • Maintains all in-store recruiting materials, applications, policy sign off forms, etc.
  • Retains records related to the interview and hiring process
  • Orders and assigns uniforms, nametags, and miscellaneous store supplies
  • Handles outgoing/incoming mail, e-mail, and maintains miscellaneous office files
  • Updates break room information/communication boards as needed
  • Serves as liaison between the Human Resources, Payroll, and Benefits Departments
  • Handles payroll and benefits administration issues and works with Store Director and Human Resources representatives in handling some personnel issues
  • Reviews associate time records for compliance with Company policies
  • Submits and processes payroll on a timely basis
  • Maintains all Time and Attendance reports, Time and Attendance Correction Forms, schedules and personnel records in compliance with Company guidelines
  • Coordinates, inputs and tracks leave paperwork including disability, military, General Leave, Worker’s Compensation or Texas Workplace Injury Benefit Plan, Family Medical Leave Act and other leaves of absence
  • Processes appropriate paperwork for return from leave situations, processing reinstatements, termination forms, etc.
  • Maintains Employee HR Records securely and keeps medical files separate from associate personnel files
  • Ensures that current personnel files are complete and up to date and that they contain applications, policy statements, etc.
  • Conducts in store file audits
  • Submits appropriate personnel status and address changes and termination paperwork
  • Ensures compliance with records retention policy requirements
  • Ensures that minor associates provide appropriate work certificates prior to beginning work
  • Ensures compliance with HIPAA and the confidentiality required under federal and state law
  • May coordinate all safety-related activities, including monthly safety meetings
  • May coordinate service award programs
  • Answers and responds to incoming calls appropriately
  • Supports front end operations
  • Ensures proper cleanliness and neat appearance of the office area
  • Responsible for performing all job duties with honesty and integrity, in compliance with Company policies and procedures

Albertsons closes 20 stores, cuts hundreds of jobs after $24.6B Kroger merger blocked

Albertsons is closing additional stores and cutting jobs nationwide following the collapse of its $24.6 billion merger with Kroger. The Boise-based grocery chain, which operates Safeway, Vons and Pavilions, has shut roughly 20 stores in 2025. Recent closures include Vons locations in Escondido and Redlands, California, eliminating 135 jobs, and stores across Texas and Washington, DC, affecting over 200 workers. The company is pivoting to cost-cutting measures, including automation and artificial intelligence investments, as it competes with Walmart and other low-cost operators. A federal judge blocked the merger in 2024, ruling it would reduce competition and raise prices. Kroger and Albertsons spent approximately $1.5 billion pursuing the deal. Albertsons appoints McDonald's CIO Brian Rice to board, issues $2.1B in notes to fund digital push

Albertsons joins OpenAI ad pilot to test ChatGPT shopping integration ahead of Valentine's Day

Albertsons Companies has joined OpenAI's advertising pilot programme to test ad formats in ChatGPT ahead of Valentine's Day. The grocery retailer will display ads when users search for terms like "best flowers for Valentine's Day" or "chocolates and sweets as a gift", directing shoppers to deals and products available for delivery in as little as 30 minutes. The pilot includes Albertsons' banners such as Safeway, Vons, Jewel-Osco and Shaw's. As the programme develops, Albertsons Media Collective plans to help brand partners reach audiences through ChatGPT. The initiative builds on Albertsons' AI strategy, which includes recently launched shopping assistants AskAI and Albertsons AI.
