Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar engineering field of study plus two years of experience in radio frequency product design and test, or a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar engineering field of study plus one year of experience in radio frequency product design and test.
  • Basic understanding of surface-mount and microelectronic chip-and-wire manufacturing methods and techniques, including soldering, wedge bonding, silver epoxy application, expansion coefficient and thermal conductivity of materials, plating, hard and soft substrate materials, and printed circuit board manufacturing methods and techniques.
  • Knowledge of measuring radio-frequency, thermal, and electrical characteristics for radio-frequency power amplifiers, including linearity, power, efficiency, noise figure, and thermal scans.
  • Ability to review data and determine when data may be erroneous.
  • Hands-on experience with radio-frequency test equipment, including spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, oscilloscopes, power meters, signal generators, and power supplies.
  • Experience using thermal chambers and environmental test equipment.
  • Hands-on ability to assemble, tune, test, and troubleshoot hardware in a laboratory environment.
  • Experience or coursework in microwave and millimeter-wave hardware design, including electrical, mechanical, thermal, and test environments.
  • Theoretical and basic practical knowledge of monolithic microwave integrated circuits, low-temperature co-fired ceramics, and ferrite-core and wire products, including couplers, dividers, baluns, transformers, mixers, and amplifiers.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor probe testing.
  • Ability to comply with, understand, and support corporate safety initiatives.
  • Ability and willingness to abide by the Company's Code of Conduct.
Responsibilities
  • Test radio-frequency power amplifier products in die and packaged forms from initial prototype evaluation through manufacturing in accordance with semiconductor standards and specifications.
  • Troubleshoot issues and record verified, accurate test data.
  • Provide engineering support to test, characterize, and qualify products.
  • Participate in production-run readiness reviews and support training of production personnel.
  • Participate in final design review meetings for catalog products and customer specials.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to support the release of catalog product quotas and customer specials.
  • Provide bench data ensuring that all elements of applicable product specifications and requirements are tested and verified.
  • Provide test strategy and implementation plans for power amplifiers, low-noise amplifiers, mixers, and passive components such as baluns and power splitters.
  • Assist in the efficient and cost-effective transition of design prototypes from engineering to production.
  • Analyze and recommend improvements to production processes and methods to facilitate cost reduction and quality improvement.
  • Prepare new test procedures and generate block diagrams for existing and new test procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with Phase Gated Process, Engineering Change Order, and release processes for test systems and software.

Mini-Circuits Launches Wideband Digital Step Attenuator from 0.1 to 24 GHz

Mini-Circuits launches wideband digital step attenuator from 0.1 to 24 GHz. Mini-Circuits has introduced the ZX76-24G-30-S+, a 50 ohm coaxial solid-state digital step attenuator designed for wideband RF applications spanning 0.1 to 24 GHz. Engineered for precision and flexibility, the attenuator offers programmable attenuation from 0 to 31.5 dB in 0.5 dB steps, providing fine control over signal levels across a wide frequency range. The ZX76-24G-30-S+ features a 6-bit parallel control interface that requires no external clock and supports dual (+3.3 V / -3.0 V) or single-supply operation (+3.3 V to +5.4 V). Built for durability in demanding environments, it delivers high input IP3 performance of +50 dBm, good return loss (typical 15 dB), and glitch-free attenuation transitions, making it well-suited for test instrumentation, communication infrastructure, and defense applications such as radar, EW, ECM, and SATCOM systems. The device's robust design also ensures immunity to latch-up and stable operation from 0°C to +50°C, while supporting input power levels up to +22 dBm. It operates with an insertion loss as low as 3 dB (typically) up to 13 GHz and 4.5 dB (typically) up to 24 GHz. To simplify integration, Mini-Circuits includes a CBL-5FT-MPD+ pigtail control cable, featuring stripped wire ends and a pre-mounted connector for easy interface with the attenuator's 10-pin digital control port.
