Requirements
  • 8 years relevant industry experience and a BS/MS degree in a technical field, such as Electrical/Computer Engineering or Computer Science
  • Strong background defining and maintaining recipes and layers in embedded Linux build systems such as the Yocto Project, Open Embedded, Buildroot, etc.
  • Experience distributing Linux images and packages, managing software bills of materials and package updates
  • Experience managing or leading small teams
  • Git revision control best practices
  • System software package build debug and analysis experience, including strong C, Python, and Bash programming and debugging experience
  • Self-motivated individual with strong problem-solving skills and a growth mindset
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with senior engineers across the company, bringing an Embedded Linux perspective to product design and requirements
  • Define embedded Linux system requirements and lead a team to implement and maintain an embedded Linux distribution
  • Manage and lead staffing for a small team of embedded Linux distribution engineers
  • Contribute to relevant open source projects to meet product requirements and minimize technical debt
  • Analyze, debug, and resolve system software bugs and performance issues
  • Collaborate with different subsystem teams at Ampere – silicon, firmware, performance analysis, etc. in pre and post silicon bring-up activities
  • Contribute to an internal engineering culture that fosters collaboration, learning, and growth
