Responsibilities
  • Oversee transition of owner-operators to company drivers
  • Knowledge and enforcement of company safety initiatives, and safety KPIs
  • Direct oversight of all company drivers: onboarding, recruitment, and settlements.
  • Manage and oversee all dispatch and assist when necessary
  • Oversee driver payroll/settlements; ensure all are submitted on time and manifests are in proper status to pay. Ensuring that all documentation needed to pay the driver and bill the customer is scanned/indexed appropriately into the system
  • Monitor rates while dispatching to ensure contracted percentage payout is accurate with company standards. Authorize overpayment of contracted pay percentage when necessary
  • Oversee and control per diem/demurrage charges at the port/rails
  • Monitor LFD’s and cut-off times
  • Maintain company owned equipment maintenance and invoice processing
  • Communicate and work with all department heads or the persons that are designated, to ensure all policies and procedures are followed at the terminal level
  • Troubleshoot and handle driver problems and concerns such as: accident reviews, log violations, equipment problems, personality conflicts with Operations/Safety Departments, etc. by using good management and decision-making skills
  • Handling driver accidents, repairs, and loans as needed. Submitting accidents and injuries to corporate website
  • Reviewing manifests to ensure accuracy and correcting issues as they arise
  • Coordinating with steamship lines on rates, storage, and additional accessorial charges
  • Corresponding delivery times to consignees from the shipper/steamship line
  • Be familiar with zone/book rates in the area
