The Technical Solutions Specialist is responsible for building, maintaining, and improving hands-on labs and Skillable Challenges, ensuring high quality, customer satisfaction, and validated learning outcomes. This role collaborates with internal and external stakeholders, supports technical and instructional development, and drives innovation in lab creation.
Responsibilities
- Build hands-on labs to Skillable standards, following guidance from Lab Architects, lab authors, and SMEs, with a focus on customer needs and satisfaction.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and customers to design and develop virtualized lab environments and learning instructions that are challenge-centric, scorable, and meet identified requirements.
- Evaluate, update, and create cloud platform assets (for example, Resource Templates, Access Control Policies, Access Control Lists) to ensure all labs comply with Skillable’s cloud security and best practices.
- Create and assist in writing PowerShell/BASH scripts to deploy, score, and optimize labs, leveraging platform features for the best learner experience.
- Work closely with the Lab Architect to refine and accelerate development processes, including maintaining “gold copy images,” managing virtual machine inventory, and supporting programmatic updates.
- Conduct technical content reviews (QA), identifying and correcting errors in formatting, scripts, user experience alignment, and content flow.
- Troubleshoot and resolve reported lab errors, updating instructions, scripts, or environments as needed, and documenting changes and blockers for the project team.
- As necessary, communicate proactively with customers and project teams throughout the product development lifecycle, ensuring adherence to best practices and addressing deviations.
- Promote and support technical standards and processes for lab creation, including performance testing and scoring as standard practices.
- Leverage and support scalable lab development processes, including content promotion from development through QA to production.
- Stay current with new and emerging technologies relevant to Skillable solutions and share recommendations for platform improvements.
- Collaborate with SMEs (including Curriculum Developers, Technical Trainers, Support Engineers, Professional Services, and Solutions Architects) to ensure technical accuracy and alignment with learning goals.
- Support and promote the company values through positive interactions with both internal and external stakeholders on a regular basis.
- Other strategic business initiatives or special cross-functional project involvement as required
Qualifications
- Four (4) or more years of experience in a technical environment that can be a combination of positions such as: Lab Development, Systems Administration, Systems Automation, and/or Support Engineering
- Experience using PowerShell to query endpoints or automate solutions
- Preferred experience using Bash and Python to query endpoints or automate solutions
- Experience using CSS and JavaScript a plus
- Technical skills across a broad range of cloud and on-premises platforms, including experience with Microsoft Azure, AWS, VMware, Hyper-V, Linux, and Docker. Working knowledge of Google Cloud Platform, and AI tool sets is helpful.
- Proven technical skills implementing, administering, and automating cloud and on-premises platforms and services using PowerShell, BASH, CLIs, and related scripting. Experience in DevOps and related disciplines highly desired.
- Ability and willingness to participate in multiple technical projects concurrently.
- Desire and ability to work in a fast-paced agile environment is required.
- Experience developing training curriculum, training aides, and other self-paced or instructor led training content is a substantial benefit.
Salary Range
The base salary for this position is $60,000 - $90,000 annually. This range does not include at plan potential for commissions and/or quarterly upsides. This role is not eligible for Skillable’s corporate bonus plan. Consistent with applicable laws, compensation will be determined based on the candidate's level, relevant skills, qualifications, and experience along with requirements for the position and annual financial plans.
Skillable is a distributed first team with employees working across the U.S., and we do not consider geography when determining compensation ranges.
Please note that it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range. Skillable reserves the right to modify this compensation range at any time.
Pay range and current benefit offerings are effective for 90 days from posting date. Standard employment offerings are subject to potential change upon periodic review and analysis, at the discretion of Skillable.

Working Conditions:
The job conditions for this position are in a remote home office setting, requiring a space that supports privacy and focus to attend to regular and frequent video and voice calls. Employees in this position use PC and phone on an on-going basis throughout the day. Periodic travel may be required equaling up to approximately 10% of the time.
