Mechanical Engineer
About the Role
As a hardware engineer on the Rapid Robotics team, you will work on the complete systems Rapid builds for various robotic tasks. Your responsibilities will cover mechanical design, electrical, systems, pneumatic, and automation aspects. You will be responsible for detailed design and work integrating manipulation technology and perception products for industrial-grade environments. You can expect to work with computer vision experts, robotics and software engineers, and Rapid’s sales and deployment teams.
To be successful in this role, you will bring a productized mindset to a range of automation-type environments, own the structure and product from concept ideation to production, and take an agile approach to hardware development, emphasizing improving deployment speed for new customers with a common product framework.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in mechanical engineering or relevant equivalent experience
- 3+ years of mechanical design experience
- Experience with concept to production development cycles, including design for manufacturing
- Familiarity with common manufacturing processes and automation in industry
- Proficiency with 3D CAD tools, particularly SolidWorks
- Ability to identify product requirements in collaboration with key stakeholders and arrive at the best outcome between all necessary objectives
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Responsibilities
- Understand the trades between different solution strategies and formulate an optimal mechanical solution
- Contribute individually and collaboratively to design and architect the Rapid product offering from a system level to a detailed design
- Participate in the design process from conceptualization to manufacturing
- Develop a mechanical design in coordination with vision, robotic, and software teams
Nice To Have
- Familiarity with Solidworks’ Macro tools and API
- Familiarity with robotic system safety standards
- Experience in Supply chain and logistics
The salary range for this full-time position is between $140,000 and $160,000 + equity + benefits. During the hiring process, your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your targeted location.
