  • A Master's degree or higher in Nursing is required.
  • A Mississippi Advanced Practice Registered Nurse license and national certification applicable to the area of practice are required.
  • Knowledge of nursing care procedures and protocols is required.
  • Verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Interpersonal skills are required.
  • Knowledge and understanding of computer systems, tools, and programs are required.
Responsibilities
  • Manage and provide patient medical care and promote patient health and wellness by assessing, diagnosing, planning, implementing, and evaluating appropriate patient care in collaboration with a physician and in accordance with applicable requirements and guidelines.
  • Complete health assessments, including patient histories and physical examinations.
  • Order, collect, and interpret relevant laboratory and other diagnostic tests.
  • Formulate and implement comprehensive patient care plans based on patient assessments, including patient and family education, prescriptions, additional laboratory and diagnostic testing, and therapies.
  • Ensure complete documentation of patient assessments, patient care plans, and care provided.
  • Serve as an educator and mentor to graduate nursing students and newly hired advanced practice providers.
  • Function as an expert and resource for nursing staff in the area of specialty.
  • Serve on at least one nursing council, hospital or medical center committee, task force, or project team to improve patient care or the work area, and demonstrate customer service standards.
  • Direct the management of patient care on a designated patient-care unit.
  • Direct overall operations of a designated patient-care unit by making rounds, interviewing patients, and collaborating with physicians and other healthcare team members to ensure optimum patient care.
  • Identify, establish, direct, evaluate, and report clinic- or unit-based quality-improvement activities to enhance clinical care delivery.
