Requirements
  • HS Diploma with 10-15 years of specific experience in startup testing; OR an Associate of Arts degree and 8-10 years of experience in startup testing; OR a Bachelor of Science degree and 5-7 years of related work experience in startup testing.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of startup/test engineering experience in the nuclear or commercial industry.
  • Candidate must demonstrate the capability to maintain certification as a level II test engineer.
  • Ability to walk down and perform tests on systems in the field.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Security clearance up to Top Secret or Department of Energy Q clearance may be required; clearance investigations up to DOE Q level may be needed.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Adobe).
  • All employees must be eligible for a Facility Access Authorization by the U.S. Government security office.
  • May be required to complete a Financial Disclosure Statement.
  • Work hours include 40-hour weeks with various schedules (5/8, 4/10, 5/10, 9/80).
  • Location is Savannah River Site / Aiken, South Carolina; occasional travel may be required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide startup/test engineering services on assigned SRR Project Teams, including design review, analysis, walk-downs, test procedure development, and test procedure performance of project modifications.
  • Perform startup/test engineering services using SRR processes and procedures with programmatic guidance from SRR.
  • Provide Test Engineering support for day-to-day activities within all SRR facilities (Defence Waste Processing Facility, Saltstone, H Tank Farm, F Tank Farm, Effluent Treatment Plant).
  • Support Project Planning and detailed phases of testing for a project, including input to design and construction for facility safety, testability, operability, and maintainability.
  • Develop, review, and status project schedules as required for testing activities.
  • Determine Test Acceptance Criteria, General Test Data and Baseline Operating Data criteria in the development of the Test Specification Plan for the system/modification to be tested.
  • Develop test procedures to ensure safe operations for the component/system being tested, providing auditable documentation and meeting the Test Specification Plan criteria.
  • Coordinate testing activities between Engineering, Construction, Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Receiving/Control Operations, Industrial Hygiene, and Operations.
  • Perform testing in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Conduct Pre-Test and Shift briefings.
  • Develop test summary documents.
  • Maintain certification as a level II or III Test Engineer as required.
  • Support Vendor testing and associated activities.
  • Assist in the preparation of operation or maintenance manuals.
  • Conduct assessments per SCD-4 FA-16 Testing, the Standards Requirements.
  • Support the completion of Mission Hazard Assessments, Final Safety Analyses, and Risk Assessments for project work.
  • Support internal and external audits or assessments as requested.
  • Support training of Operation and Maintenance personnel on new modifications.
  • Support procedures group in developing/modifying Operations and Maintenance procedures.
