- A valid Food Service Worker Permit from the Monongalia County Health Department is required before starting, or a temporary permit must be obtained by the first Wednesday of employment followed by a permanent permit within one month.
- The permit must remain valid throughout employment.
- The employee must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and pull a fully loaded patient meal cart weighing approximately 250 pounds.
- The employee must be able to stand for the entire shift.
- The employee must be able to work effectively in a noisy setting and under deadline pressures.
- The employee must be able to work in hot, cold, and/or wet areas.
- The employee must be able to work with cleaning and dishwashing chemicals.
- The employee must be able to understand written and oral communication.
- Prepare assigned work areas for operation.

- Remove trash from service areas promptly.
- Clean spills promptly and post appropriate caution signage.
- Maintain clean, uncluttered, attractive, and orderly work areas.
- Create attractive and informative displays and garnishes, including signage, labels, and price stickers in retail areas.
- Ensure activities comply with departmental sanitation, safety, and quality-control guidelines.
- Use cleaning chemicals properly.
- Document refrigerator, dish machine, and other equipment temperatures as assigned.
- Alert facilities and management when equipment malfunctions.
- Operate, clean, and store assigned equipment properly.
- Clean and sanitize work surfaces throughout the scheduled shift.
- Store and label food items and chemicals properly.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
