Requirements
  • More than 10 years of hands-on experience in network implementation, troubleshooting, and lifecycle maintenance is required.
  • More than 5 years of experience in network architecture roles is required.
  • At least 5 years of experience in wireless design, implementation, and support for large networks, including spectrum analysis and stadium distributed antenna system design, is required.
  • Proficiency in network administration, particularly Cisco products, including controllers, access points, routers, and switches, is required.
  • Advanced knowledge of networking protocols, including TCP/IP, UDP, DHCP, DNS, STP, NAT, IPsec, GRE, VPC/VSS, and related protocols, is required.
  • Advanced knowledge of networking concepts, including static and dynamic routing with RIP, EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP, and multilayer switching with standard and private VLANs, VTP, and Spanning Tree, is required.
  • Knowledge of network best practices, security principles, network architecture, and network analysis tools such as Wireshark is required.
  • Experience troubleshooting networking device drivers and client system issues is required.
  • Experience troubleshooting video and voice performance over wired and wireless networks is required.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and architecture of Football Technology network services, considering performance, redundancy, scalability, and security.
  • Document standards and guidelines for stadium network and wireless architecture in alignment with industry standards and best practices.
  • Develop and present network design proposals that address business requirements and technical specifications.
  • Research, design, and document upgrades and adoption of new network technologies.
  • Provide hands-on configuration and escalation support for stadium network technologies.
  • Install, operate, administer, and maintain wired and wireless networks at stadiums and corporate offices.
  • Support on-site stadium network and Wi-Fi technicians during NFL game days throughout the NFL season.
  • Manage and maintain network diagrams, configurations, support documentation, and training documentation.
  • Collaborate with operations, security, Events, and other cross-functional teams to align network strategies with business goals.
  • Respond to technical escalations for wired and wireless service issues and work with product support teams, IT staff, and business groups to resolve them.
  • Provide reports for network key performance indicators covering service levels, capacity analysis, performance, troubleshooting, and areas for improvement in network infrastructure.
  • Provide technical support for activities and internal infrastructure within the Football Technology segment.
  • Engage with IT project management and report project status.
  • Establish and adhere to project plans and release dates.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior network engineers.
  • Maintain and publish Football Stadium distributed antenna system and Wi-Fi Guidelines.
  • Review and plan distributed antenna system and Wi-Fi updates for NFL Tentpole Events.
  • Lead audits of cellular and distributed antenna system performance around NFL stadiums to ensure adherence to NFL guidelines.
  • Collaborate with cellular vendors on stadium enhancements and testing.
Desired Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field is preferred.
  • CCNP, CCIE, JNCIP, or an equivalent certification is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Cisco Identity Services Engine and Cisco DNA is preferred.

Fox delays NFL media rights talks until 2028, targets post-2029 season negotiations

Fox will not renegotiate its NFL media rights deal until at least 2028, company CEO Lachlan Murdoch announced Thursday. The broadcaster and league agreed to postpone discussions closer to the 2030 season, following customary timelines. The NFL had planned to begin negotiations this year, capitalising on record viewership and contractual opt-outs taking effect after the 2029 season. Delays in CBS Sports parent Paramount's planned takeover of Warner Bros. Discovery are likely complicating matters, as CBS was expected to renegotiate first. Meanwhile, Fox reported fourth-quarter revenue of $4.21 billion, up 28% year-over-year, driven by the 2026 FIFA men's World Cup. Advertising revenue surged 78%. Full-year revenue reached $17.13 billion, up 5%.

ESPN and NFL Network to announce layoffs Tuesday following media merger

ESPN and NFL Network are set to announce additional layoffs on Tuesday, following the network's awkward on-air termination of NFL analyst Ryan Clark. The cuts stem from ESPN's acquisition of NFL Network and other NFL Media assets on 1 April, in a deal that gave the NFL a 10% stake in ESPN. The redundancies are a consequence of merging operations between the two sports networks, which had been performing duplicate tasks. Disney, ESPN's parent company, is now eliminating overlapping positions as it integrates the newly acquired NFL Media properties. Further details about affected employees are expected to emerge shortly, with at least one recognisable name already rumoured to be impacted by the restructuring.

ESPN strips NFL Network's schedule show after $3B takeover as Rich Eisen hints more changes may come

ESPN appears to be gradually absorbing NFL Network following its $3 billion acquisition, with changes already becoming evident. The network did not produce its traditional schedule-release show this year, instead airing ESPN's coverage, marking the first time in years it skipped the event. Rich Eisen, NFL Network host, confirmed on The Dan Patrick Show that whilst NFL Network will still broadcast seven games and continue programmes like Sunday NFL GameDay Morning, the Scouting Combine and the draft, other changes remain uncertain. ESPN has reportedly begun building a new broadcast booth, with Dave Pasch and Mike Monaco linked to play-by-play roles. Ian Rapoport became the first major NFL Network personality to sign with ESPN post-merger, securing a four-year contract. The deal gave the NFL a 10% equity stake in ESPN.

ESPN plans layoffs of around 30 staff following $100M revenue loss from YouTube TV dispute

ESPN is preparing to lay off approximately 30 employees, primarily in off-camera departments, according to reports. Despite the timing following ESPN's $3 billion NFL Media deal, the cuts are unrelated to the acquisition. The layoffs stem from multiple factors. ESPN lost roughly $100 million in revenue during a 2024 carriage dispute with YouTube TV that blacked out the network for nearly two weeks, affecting over 10 million subscribers. More significantly, ESPN faces ongoing structural challenges as cable subscriptions have dropped from nearly 100 million households a decade ago to around 60 million today. This decline has directly impacted ESPN's revenue, as the network historically earned $8–10 per household monthly in carriage fees. The company is now investing heavily in direct-to-consumer streaming infrastructure whilst managing the financial pressure from shrinking cable revenues.

ESPN secures NFL Media assets and 10% NFL equity stake in billion-dollar deal

ESPN and the NFL have received regulatory approval for their blockbuster equity deal, with the transaction happening faster than anticipated. The agreement gives ESPN control of NFL Network and linear distribution rights to NFL RedZone, whilst the NFL receives a 10% equity stake in ESPN. NFL Media employees will begin transitioning to ESPN in April, with full integration expected by next season. ESPN subscribers will gain access to NFL Network at no additional cost through ESPN's direct-to-consumer service. Under the deal, ESPN-owned networks will broadcast 28 games per season, up from 25 previously. ESPN's four Monday Night Football doubleheaders will end, with those games likely sold to streaming platforms. The NFL retains control of NFL+, NFL.com and will continue producing RedZone in-house.
