Requirements
  • A High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • The employee must be able to work 40 hours per week on a varied Monday-to-Friday day schedule, with potential Saturday work and overtime as needed.
  • The employee must demonstrate flexibility to provide coverage at the primary office and other Westchester Medical Group locations when needed.
  • The employee must live within a commutable distance to NYP.
Responsibilities
  • Greet patients, visitors, and employees courteously and explain procedures clearly and concisely.
  • Maintain awareness of patient needs during procedures requiring physical contact, including positioning patients, providing warmth and modesty, and offering reassurance.
  • Respond to inquiries promptly and refer matters outside the role’s duties to appropriate personnel.
  • Observe patients’ conditions, report abnormal conditions to staff nurses, and document information in patient records.
  • Measure and record patient height and weight, perform routine vision and hearing examinations, and take pulse and blood pressure readings.
  • Draw blood, perform finger sticks, and obtain specimens as requested by physicians or registered nurses.
  • Assist with diagnostic procedures using aseptic principles and create and maintain a sterile field.
  • Apply technical skills in patient positioning, wound care, and dressing changes.
  • Prepare specimens, arrange for their disposition, and transport patients.
  • Maintain examination and blood-drawing room supplies and clinical staff forms, and notify appropriate personnel when stock needs replenishment.
  • Maintain a safe, sanitary, and therapeutic patient-care environment.
  • Clean and maintain technical equipment used in patient care and utility rooms, and report equipment requiring repair.
  • Answer telephones and issue appointments as needed.
  • Provide cross-coverage for other practices and perform other job-related duties as required.
Desired Qualifications
  • Medical Assistant certification is preferred.
  • One or more years of experience as a Medical Assistant is preferred.
  • Knowledge of authorizations is preferred.
