Requirements
  • The candidate must be at least 18 years of age and present state-required proof of age documents.
  • The candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent General Educational Development credential.
  • The candidate must be able to safely lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • The candidate must use business computer systems and applications, specifically Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and project management applications.
  • The candidate must be able to troubleshoot machinery problems without supervision or direction.
  • The candidate must be able to document predictive and preventive maintenance charts and technical data, interpret data, and provide relevant input for process improvement.
  • The candidate must communicate effectively with others using spoken and written English.
  • The candidate must be able to bend, stoop, reach overhead with the arms and hands, climb ladders and stairs up to three flights, and use scissor or bucket lifts without fear of heights.
  • The candidate must work cooperatively and collaboratively with others and maintain working relationships acceptable to the organization.
  • The candidate must be able to receive and apply cross-functional training and assist other functions and work groups as needed.
  • The candidate must comprehend and adhere to company policies and procedures related to attendance, scheduling, honesty, integrity, confidentiality, safety, and conflicts of interest.
  • The candidate must have at least three years of industry experience in maintenance or engineering in a related field.
  • The candidate must be able to troubleshoot, maintain, and operate advanced technical equipment in a related industry.
  • The candidate must have knowledge of and experience with programmable logic controller systems.
  • The candidate must have knowledge of and experience with computerized maintenance management systems.
  • The candidate must be medically approved to wear negative- or positive-pressure respiratory protection, including N95, full-face respirators, self-contained breathing apparatus, or powered air-purifying respirators.
  • The candidate must be willing to acknowledge the potential teratogenic, carcinogenic, and reproductive risks of handling hazardous drugs.
Responsibilities
  • Provide predictive and preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment, including tablet presses, blenders, mills, hoods, tablet coaters, air compressors, and electrical controls.
  • Document maintenance technical data and other data on predictive and preventive maintenance charts as required.
  • Conduct repair and troubleshooting duties throughout the pharmacy as required.
  • Diagnose and repair laboratory equipment, including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, air-compressor, and heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems.
  • Identify facilities issues, chart trends, and take remedial action using a predictive-maintenance approach.
  • Communicate to management issues that could create safety risks or cause loss to the company or its associates.
  • Work as directed throughout the pharmacy to maintain facility safety and health standards.
  • Perform equipment calibration and testing procedures to ensure accurate operation and compliance with quality standards.
  • Conduct regular checks and measurements of equipment performance, including temperature, pressure, speed, and other relevant parameters.
  • Maintain calibration records and documentation in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure equipment meets regulatory and quality standards and take corrective action to address non-compliance.
  • Collaborate with quality assurance and regulatory affairs teams to maintain equipment logs, maintenance records, and validation reports.
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, emergencies, and production interruptions to minimize downtime.
  • Work with production personnel to coordinate repairs and minimize disruptions to the manufacturing process.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization, efficiency improvements, and cost savings related to equipment maintenance and operation.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams implementing improvement projects and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices related to pharmaceutical equipment maintenance.
Desired Qualifications
  • Formal training or certification through an accredited institution in at least one of the following areas: electrical, mechanical, plumbing, air compression, programmable logic controller systems, or heating, ventilation, and air conditioning trades.
  • Five or more years of previous maintenance experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility or pharmacy with the listed laboratory equipment.
  • Five or more years of electrical knowledge and electronic principles.
  • Advanced degree or training in engineering, maintenance, or another related field.
  • Advanced formal training in lean or six sigma.
