Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Possession of a current Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Master Automobile and Light Truck Certification.
  • Possession of a valid Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL). (Fire Department-Class B Commercial Driver License with Hazmat Endorsement).
  • The employee will be required to possess or obtain a valid Class A Commercial Driver License or Class B with Hazmat Endorsement for Fire Department employees, within twelve (12) months from the date of hire/promotion/transfer/demotion.
  • The employee will be required to possess or obtain Master Automobile and Light Truck Certification within twenty-four (24) months of hire/promotion/transfer/demotion.
Responsibilities
  • Applying knowledge and principles of automotive mechanics.
  • Diagnosing and providing service for various equipment malfunctions.
  • Performing major repairs of gasoline and diesel automotive equipment.
  • Utilizing own knowledge of mechanics, methods, tools and techniques.
  • Exercising initiative and independent judgment.
  • Communicating effectively to convey technical information to inquiring City employees and co-workers.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
