Requirements
  • A PhD in Art Education or ABD status is required.
  • At least two years of teaching experience in Art Education and/or Studio is required.
  • Demonstrated active professional practice and proficiency in a range of studio techniques and pedagogies applicable to Art Education, Foundations, and Studio Art curricula are required.
  • Experience teaching Foundations courses and content is required.
  • Ability to work collegially with others and coordinate teaching with other instructors, including Art Education and Foundations/Studio faculty, is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required.
Responsibilities
  • Teach a 3/2 course load for the academic year, potentially including Art Education Methods I, Art Education—Philosophy, Theory and Issues, Art Education Practicum, Art Education Methods II, and Foundations classes as needed.
  • Support and work with the Art Education Program coordinator to maintain and develop the program as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with Art Education faculty to maintain communication with Wyoming State Education offices, schools, community colleges, educators throughout Wyoming, and the College of Education within the University of Wyoming.
  • Maintain active scholarly research and national-level professional development.
  • Advise and mentor Art Education students.
  • Provide service to the department, college, university, and state.
Desired Qualifications
  • A BA, BFA, MA, or MFA in Studio Art is preferred.
  • K–12 teaching experience and teaching experience in an Art Education college or university curriculum.
  • Ability to teach in other department areas with qualified experience, particularly in 3D Studio areas.
  • Ongoing engagement in scholarly, creative, and/or professional activities.
  • Ability to advise, mentor, and support students from all backgrounds in the classroom and department.
  • Experience in state, regional, and national professional organizations, such as NAEA, and taking students to professional conferences.
