Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited occupational therapy program or equivalent under California Occupational Therapy Board requirements.
  • Current California license as an occupational therapist or license applicant status is required.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification is required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide occupational therapy services as part of the multidisciplinary treatment team to primarily adult and geriatric patients, with occasional limited pediatric and adolescent patients.
  • Communicate appropriately with the referring physician.
  • Communicate adequately and appropriately with patients and others.
  • Complete all required documentation.
  • Continue professional development through continuing education.
  • Delegate to and supervise assistants and aides appropriately.
  • Assess patients and complete other clinical responsibilities from a developmental perspective.
  • Develop appropriate treatment plans.
  • Evaluate patients, identify problems, and define treatment goals that are specific, objective, and measurable.
  • Implement treatment programs using appropriate procedures and techniques according to department standards.
  • Monitor the extent to which services have met therapy goals.
  • Participate in clinical education for occupational therapy students when applicable.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary treatment planning and care.
  • Participate in orientation of new staff, students, and volunteers when applicable.
  • Perform routine tasks necessary to maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work area.
  • Assess adolescent patients' developmental levels and incorporate this information into treatment planning, individualized treatment, and patient and family education.
  • Assess pediatric patients' developmental levels and incorporate this information into treatment planning, individualized treatment, and patient and family education.
  • Assess the effects of aging and incorporate this information into treatment planning, individualized treatment, and patient and family education for geriatric patients.
  • Understand and participate in the organization-wide Performance Improvement Program through orientation, education, departmental and interdepartmental quality control, quality improvement, and quality planning activities.
Desired Qualifications
  • Hospital-based experience is preferred.
