Job Description
Part-Time Administrative Assistant - OIT (28 hours per week)
Are you passionate about keeping teams organized, ensuring smooth daily operations, and making a meaningful impact behind the scenes? Brigham Young University’s Office of Information Technology (OIT) is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and customer-focused Administrative Assistant to support its Office and Executive Leadership. This part-time, role offers the opportunity to contribute to HR processes, travel, scheduling, event planning, and communication coordination at the highest level of the department.
As a vital member of OIT, you will help manage logistics, oversee student employees, maintain records, and support the efficient flow of information across a division of more than 850 employees. If you enjoy providing structure, working with professionals, and delivering top-notch administrative support in a mission-driven organization—this role is designed for you.
This is a part-time job with 28 hours per week. Office hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm, but schedules for the most part will be flexible and set in coordination with your supervisor.
What you will be doing in this position:
Administrative & Office Support
Hire, train, and supervise student workers
Manage calendars and assist with scheduling
Support meetings: logistics, note-taking, prep
Maintain digital and paper records
Greet and assist visitors
Coordinate Communication
Screen and route calls, emails, mail
Format and proofread communications
Expense & Travel Assistance
Prepare expense reports and gather receipts
Book travel and reconcile related documentation
Event & Project Support
Help plan and execute small-scale events
Support project coordination, data entry, follow-ups
What qualifies you for this role:
Minimum:
• 3 years of relevant office or business experience OR a mix of education and experience
Preferred:
• Bachelor’s degree + 2 years of HR/admin experience
Skills & Abilities:
Strong computer and office software proficiency
Ability to learn internal systems (HR, finance, data tools)
Project management, organizational, and supervisory skills
Clear communicator with a customer-first mindset
Professional, detail-oriented, and maintains confidentiality

Typical Starting Pay: $16.50-$21.00
