We are looking for an Engineering Manager for our SoundCloud Platform Authentication team with a mission to enable SoundCloud users’ to access sensitive data, features and media correctly, securely and compliantly authenticated, authorized and accounted for all SoundCloud services in a frictionless maneer. As a manager of the team you will be responsible for building and maintaining systems to identify users and control access to an abundance of music and customer data as well as functionalities for 1P and 3P SoundCloud’s customers.
As an Engineering Manager of the Authentication team you will have end-to-end ownership of the authentication and authorization pipeline. You will be responsible for hiring, managing and developing a group of talented software engineers working with cutting-edge technologies such as microservices, Scala, TypeScript/React, Swift, Kotlin, data processing platforms such as BigQuery and other Google Cloud Platform services. We care much more about your general engineering skills and positive attitude towards getting things done than any prior knowledge of a particular language or framework.
You will help the team to understand business objectives, ensure that Agile ceremonies take place and uphold our best in class technical direction. You will work closely with product and design teams to deliver an amazing product. You will communicate proactively with other teams across the company to collaborate on cross-cutting topics. You embrace hard decisions, applying pragmatism when necessary.
You will support the PM in backlog prioritization by facilitating the team’s estimation of the backlog, and by describing the value for technical tasks. You will ensure pragmatism in scoping work, having return on investment (ROI) in mind.
You’ve worked as an engineer, and you understand what it takes to deliver a large cross-functional project in an agile environment. You know how to maintain large systems over time, establishing a technical roadmap and balancing product and engineering concerns. You’ve been a mentor and understand how to grow someone’s career.
