Requirements
  • A High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • At least one year of call center experience is required.
  • The employee must report punctually, work all scheduled hours, and work overtime when business demand requires it, including early starts or late stays with short notice.
  • The employee must be able to develop positive and effective working relationships with coworkers across Credit Union services.
  • Strong interpersonal and persuasive skills are required for representing the Credit Union positively during stressful member contacts.
  • Interpersonal skills are required to gather data from multiple sources and represent the Credit Union positively during member contact.
  • The employee must be able to prioritize assignments, organize work efficiently, and handle large volumes of details.

Responsibilities
  • Determine and analyze the factors causing individual accounts to become delinquent or overdrawn and implement efforts to resolve those factors through interaction with account holders.
  • Communicate extensively with members and other departments by telephone and in writing to determine causes of delinquency or overdrawn status and establish appropriate remedies.
  • Perform skip tracing, process payments, and open the correct activities for complex issues requiring team resolution.
  • Provide credit and financial counseling for past-due and overdrawn accounts in accordance with lending guidelines and state and federal regulations.
  • Complete proactive campaigns on non-delinquent, high-risk accounts to maintain good standing.
  • Adhere to the Credit Union's core values and Service Standards while conducting its mission and vision.
  • Demonstrate a positive member-service focus with internal and external members.
  • Demonstrate teamwork in interactions with coworkers and in completing duties and responsibilities.
  • Ensure confidentiality of member information.
  • Support a diverse and inclusive work environment.
  • Make collection contacts with assigned delinquent accounts and perform tasks that aid collection of past-due accounts.
  • Contact and confer with members, third parties, or internal staff by phone, email, text, or live chat to determine the reason for delinquency and arrange an appropriate course of action.
  • Initiate activities for appropriate action on accounts that cannot be contacted or for which satisfactory arrangements cannot be made.
  • Maintain and update member records and record all communications and collection activities.
  • Follow up on early-stage past-due mortgages, loans, and credit cards to arrange reasonable and practical interest, partial, or full payments.
  • Process accepted payment methods from members and authorized parties for delinquent accounts, applying funds accurately.
  • Confirm that required notices are sent to members at appropriate times.
  • Assist the department with scanning, printing, mailing, and uploading notifications, letters, and other documents to Synergy.
  • Review, distribute, and redirect incoming daily mail.
  • Monitor the department email inbox, respond or forward messages promptly, and document interactions in servicing platforms.
  • Perform skip-tracing duties as required and directed.
  • Initiate workflows for modification, troubled-debt restructuring, and hardship reviews.
  • Refer members to financial counseling resources when necessary.
  • Participate annually in community service organizations or Credit Union-sponsored events.
  • Work as part of a team to meet department goals for delinquency and abandonment rates.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
