  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 6 months to one year of experience working in youth development with youth ages 6 to 18.
  • Minimum of 6 months to one year of experience contributing to the implementation of curriculum and/or youth programming.
  • Ability to demonstrate classroom management skills effectively.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, Google Workspace and the internet.
  • Knowledge of education and career development programming that enables youth to become proficient in basic educational disciplines, apply learning to everyday situations, plan for higher education and careers, and embrace technology.
  • Specialization in one or more programming areas: literacy and reading, math, or technology.
Responsibilities
  • Assist youth with homework during after-school supervision.
  • Assist youth with web-based literacy intervention programming using Read Naturally, Levered Math, and/or an assigned web-based literacy program.
  • Track and report program participation and outcomes, and recommend modifications to activities and programs in response to youth needs and interests.
  • Foster an environment where youth develop belonging, competence, usefulness, power and influence through developmentally appropriate learning activities, primarily for grades K-5, in education, character and leadership development, and health and life skills.
  • Address youth behavior using a fair, firm, consistent and kind positive-discipline approach, helping youth take responsibility for their actions and apply appropriate consequences.
  • Maintain a culture of high expectations and frequent recognition of youth.
  • Provide support to other program departments, including education, SFR and technology, as needed.
  • Lead and/or collaborate in off-site youth development programs and activities, including School Day Program, Catch The Bus and Outreach.
  • Perform other duties assigned in alignment with the primary function of the position.
Desired Qualifications
  • Bilingual English and Spanish ability.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Cultural competence and ability to work with diverse youth and people.
  • Communication skills.
