Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical, Chemical or Civil discipline or other related engineering discipline from an accredited college or university; will consider a combination of experience and/or education.
  • Associate level candidates should have completed internships and/or Co-Op rotations within Engineering or have up to 2 years of applicable experience necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Engineer level, Staff level, or Senior level candidate ideally will have 3 or more years of engineering experience.
  • Ideally 2 or more years of pipeline, oil, gas, or related industry experience may vary based on engineer level.
  • Fluid mechanics, fluid properties, thermodynamics and pipeline modeling and simulations knowledge.
  • Industry transient simulation software such as Synergi Pipeline Simulator (SPS) or AFT Impulse, preferably SPS.
  • C++ programming language, to be able to maintain in-house legacy software.
Responsibilities
  • Identify, evaluate, and implement modern modeling approaches relevant to pipeline simulations, including data analytics, and automation.
  • Function as a technical liaison between departments and facilitate collaboration between engineering, operations, maintenance, and regulatory compliance teams.
  • Ability to analyze existing systems to identify strengths, weaknesses, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement for system optimization.
  • Recognize and address the health and safety hazards involved with the performance of assigned duties within different environments throughout the pipeline system.
  • Utilize Colonial’s operating philosophies, design parameters, engineering standards, workflow processes, and recommended practices for design and analysis.
  • Performing assigned technical analysis/design work on an independent basis.

  • Hydraulic modeling experience with refined petroleum products pipeline.
  • Hydraulic modeling experience in the oil and gas industry.

Brookfield Infrastructure Partners (BIP) will acquire Colonial Enterprises, owner of Colonial Pipeline, for $9 billion. The deal values Shell Midstream's share at $1.45 billion. BIP's equity investment is $500 million, about 15% of the total. Debt financing is led by Morgan Stanley and Mizuho Bank. The transaction, advised by Jefferies, Greenhill, and Morgan Stanley, is expected to close in Q4 2025, pending regulatory approvals.
