Responsibilities

Shamrock Trading Corporation is looking for a Network Engineer to join our Infrastructure team and support Shamrock’s fast growth. The ideal candidate will have a strong infrastructure networking background, a passion for automation, a pragmatic approach to engineering solutions, willingness to work across other areas as needed, have a high aptitude, and possess strong problem-solving skills.

Serve as a network systems subject matter expert, recommending and implementing best-practice network architecture in a manner that ensures maximum uptime and security
Deploy, document and proactively maintain network infrastructure and related technologies
Troubleshoot and resolve critical or escalated technical issues of affected equipment
Help deploy, test, and troubleshoot network hardware and software
Troubleshoot issues on premises and cloud environments
Participate in an on-call rotation and be onsite as needed
Take part in the development of technical processes and documentation
Be open to learning new concepts and train with other Network Engineers

Qualifications

BA/BS degree in a technical field or evidence of exceptional ability
Must possess a passion for technology and take initiative to stay educated on the latest and most relevant technologies and methodologies
Must possess initiative and analytical skills to resolve issues before they become critical
3-5 years’ experience with next-generation Palo Alto firewalls, software-defined networking (SDN), and Cisco/Meraki network components in an enterprise datacenter environment
Foundational network routing, topology and protocol knowledge
Understanding of hardware architecture, maintenance, and repair
Must possess initiative to resolve issues before they become critical
Must possess strong people skills and the ability to work as a team member, collaborating and partnering with others to address issues
Able to adapt to changes in a dynamic work environment
Must have a propensity for knowledge gathering and sharing
Must be self-motivated, able to respond quickly when on-call, willing to work outside core area
Ability to communicate clearly, verbally and in writing
Minimal travel may be required

Preferred Qualifications

AWS network design experience a plus
Experience with BGP and VXLAN/EVPN
Experience writing Infrastructure-as-Code using Ansible, Terraform or similar
Experience with back-up/recovery and monitoring solutions
Functional Jenkins and Git skills
